NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

Crown Lands Office, Nelson,
21st February, 1870.

In accordance with instructions received from the
SECRETARY FOR CROWN LANDS :

NOTICE is hereby given, that the undermentioned
Sections of Land, situated on Totara Flat,
District of the Grey, being portions of a Reserve set
apart for Native perches, will be put up to public
auction at the Warden's Office, Cobden, on SATUR-
DAY, the 26th day of March next, at Twelve o'clock
noon.

Ten per cent of the purchase money to be deposited
at the sale, and the remainder to be paid within one
month, or deposit forfeited.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the
expiration of two months from the date hereof,
to grant gold-mining leases of the Crown Land within
the district of the Golden Bay Goldfields hereinafter
described, viz.—

  1. A block of land, containing sixteen acres two
    roods and four perches, situated at Richmond
    Hill, Collingwood. Applied for by George
    Williams, Nelson.

  2. A block of land, containing sixteen acres two
    roods and four perches, situated at Richmond
    Hill, Collingwood. Applied for by William
    B. Gibbs, Collingwood.

  3. A block of land, containing three acres and twenty
    perches, situated at Bedstead Gully, Colling-
    wood. Applied for by William Norton and
    others, Collingwood.

to grant Leases for gold-mining purposes of the Crown
Land within the district of the Nelson South-west
Goldfields hereinafter described, viz.:—

  1. A block of land, containing three acres three
    roods and two perches, more or less, situated
    near the Town of Charleston. Applied for by
    James Callau and others.

  2. A block of land, containing three acres and
    twenty-eight perches, more or less, situated near
    Constant Bay, Charleston. Applied for by
    John M'Herron and others.

  3. A block of land, containing two acres one rood
    and two perches, more or less, situated near the
    Town of Charleston. Applied for by William
    Hill and others.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Auckland, this
eleventh day of February, 1870.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Goldfields Act, 1866," it is
enacted that it is lawful for the Governor
in Council from time to time to constitute for any Gold-
field, or for any part thereof, Wardens' Courts, for the
administration of justice therein, and to appoint Wardens
of such Courts, with power to act alone or with asses-
sors, and in such manner, and to exercise all or any of
the powers thereinafter mentioned, as the Governor
shall think fit to direct:

And whereas by certain Proclamations, dated re-
spectively the eighth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-eight, and the ninth day of February,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy, and respec-
tively published in the Provincial Government Gazette
of the Province of Nelson on the eighth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and the
ninth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy, the portions of the colony therein mentioned
were constituted a goldfield under the name of "The
Nelson South-west Goldfields :"

And whereas it is expedient that Wardens' Courts
should be constituted in and for the said goldfield :

Now therefore his Excellency the Governor, in pur-
suance and exercise of the said power and authority,
doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of New Zealand, order that Wardens'
Courts at Westport, Charleston, Brighton, Cobden,
goldfield, shall be and the same are hereby constituted
