NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
Superintendent's Office, Nelson,
16th February, 1870.
JAMES MCLAUGHLIN is hereby authorised under
Section XIII. of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," to
construct a Track, commencing at his store at Noble's
Junction and ending on the Terrace at Napoleon Hill,
and to charge for a period of six months from the
Twenty-second day of February instant the Toll of Two
shillings and sixpence for each horse, Two shillings for
each head of Cattle, and Sixpence for each sheep
(one way) on the following conditions :β

That the Track shall at all times be maintained
in a good state of repair, and no Tolls be re-
coverable unless the Warden be satisfied that
this condition has been fully complied with. -
That any person using the Track may at any
time become a part proprietor on payment of
a proportionate share of the expenditure on
such Track, the amount so payable to be settled
by arbitration in the usual way. -
That this protection does not interfere with any
existing rights or privileges, nor prejudice the
right of the Government to make a grant pro-
tection to any other track, but no protection
will be granted for any other track within a
chain of this one. -
That all Government officers, road overseers,
and laborers, and postmen shall use the track
when on duty free of charge. -
That this protection shall not be transferred
without the sanction of the Warden. -
That the track shall, if required, be given up to
the Government at a valuation.
