82 NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
Superintendent's Office,
Nelson, 26th July, 1869.
JOHN FARIS is hereby protected under Section XIII, of \"The Goldfields Act, 1866,\" in the right of Ferrying on that portion of the Okari Lagoon extending in a southerly direction for a distance of half-a-mile from the reef of rocks at the upper end, on the following conditions:—
- That a good safe Boat and competent Ferryman shall be at all times in attendance at the Ferry.
- That Government officers on duty, including road overseers, laborers, and postmen, shall be conveyed free of charge when the state of the tide renders the use of the Ferry necessary.
- That the Warden of the District, on proof that the Ferry is not carried on in a proper manner, and according to these conditions, shall have power to suspend the operation of this protection until the matter of complaint be removed.
- That all Regulations which may be brought into force under Section XIII, of \"The Goldfields Act, 1866,\" shall be deemed applicable to this License, as if it had been granted under the same.
- That the Toll to be charged shall not exceed the following, viz:—
