PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by an Act passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Nelson, in Session X, No. 5, intituled, "An Act to provide for the abatement of the Dog Nuisance," it is enacted that the said Act shall come into operation within certain Districts, and in such other Districts as shall be proclaimed by the Superintendent in the Government Gazette for the Province, upon the request of a majority of the residents electors in such Districts:

Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, at the request of a majority of the resident Electors of the Town of Westport, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said Act shall come into operation, within a radius of two miles from the Court-House, in the said Town of Westport, on and after the First day of July next.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this Fifth day of April, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

IN conformity with the provisions of the Gold Mining Lease Regulations, published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 15, of 1866, it is hereby notified that it is intended to GRANT LEASES FOR GOLD MINING PURPOSES, of the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-West Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz :β€”

  1. A Block of Land, containing Four Acres One Rood and Six Perches, more or less, situate on the Back Lead, Darkies' Terrace, Charleston, applied for by Walton Pell and party.

  2. A Block of Land, containing Five Acres Three Roods and Fourteen Perches, more or less, situate at Miller's Terrace, North Beach, Charleston, applied for by Thomas Liddell and George Pound.
