APPLICATIONS FOR DEPASTURAGE LICENSES, in accordance with the Regulations of the "Nelson Waste Lands Act, 1863," received by the Commissioner of Crown Lands during the months of October and December, 1866 :—

OTTO WIESENHAVERN.—District, West Wanganui.
Being the land included within the following lines:—From Rochfort's traverse peg, marked XX, by a line of eighty chains, running from west to east, thence by a line running from north to south, one hundred and fifty-eight chains; thence by a line from east to west, eighty-nine chains, till it strikes an arm of the West Wanganui Inlet.
Estimated extent, under 3000 acres.
Deposit—£5.

B. GAPPER.—District, the Howard.
Bounded on the north by Mr. J. Kerr's southern boundary, and comprising all the available land on the River Howard and its tributaries.
Estimated extent, 3000 acres.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
