ALTERATION OF ROADS.

Survey Office, Nelson,
July 9, 1866.

THE undersigned hereby give notice
that they intend to apply to two or more
Justices of the Peace, at a sitting to be holden on
Tuesday, the 28th day of August, 1866, at
the Court House, Nelson, for an order for
stopping up, diverting, and making the un-
dermentioned roads; and further, that they
will cause surveys of the several roads
proposed to be stopped up, substituted, and
made, together with books of reference and
estimates, to be deposited on or before the
28th day of August, 1866, with the Clerk
to the Magistrates, Nelson; Mr. George
Taylor, Constable for the District of Takaka;
Mr. William Jenkins, Constable for the Dis-
trict of Riwaka; and Mr. Alexander Wragg,
Constable for the District of Suburban
North.

  1. To open a new road seventy-five links in
    width, in the District of the Takaka,
    and which is shown in pink color on
    the plan; commencing at the junction
    of the Waitapu and Motupipi roads,
    and crossing section numbered 21 in a
    south-easterly direction, for a distance
    of about 35 chains and 50 links;
    thence crossing section numbered 22
    in a southerly direction, for a distance
    of about 60 chains and 50 links to the
    public road, lying between sections
    numbered respectively 22 and 29;
    thence from the said public road
    crossing section numbered 29 in a
    south-easterly direction, for a distance
    of about 40 chains and 50 links; and
    thence in a south-easterly direc-
    tion across section 109, for a distance
    of 42 chains 50 links, and terminating

at the East Takaka trunk line of
road. The total distance being about
192 chains.

  1. To stop up part of a certain road 75
    links in width, in the Riwaka District,
    commencing from the public road ly-
    ing between sections 57 and 62, and
    proceeding in a northerly direction
    to the banks of the Riwaka river
    about 20 chains, thence in the same
    direction across and along the river,
    and known as section numbered 78,
    about 7 chains and 50 links, and thence
    in the same northerly direction for
    about 29 chains, until it meets the
    line of road leading from Riwaka to
    Takaka.

  2. To substitute a certain road 50 links in
    width in the Riwaka District, com-
    mencing from the banks of the Ri-
    waka river, and proceeding in a north-
    erly direction to the main trunk road,
    Riwaka Valley, distant about 13
    chains. The said road crossing sec-
    tion 63, at about 19 chains from its
    eastern boundary.

And to substitute in the place thereof a
certain footpath 4 feet in width, and
commencing from the foot bridge over
the Riwaka river, and continuing along
the banks of the said river for about
11 chains, and thence in a northerly
direction along side of Mr. Cook's fence
for about 20 chains until it meets the
main trunk road of Riwaka Valley at
a point about 7 chains to the east-
ward of the road proposed to be stop-
ped up.

  1. To stop up part of the trunk line of
    road leading to Wakapunka, Suburban
    North District, 1 chain in width, com-
    mencing from the intersection of sec-
    tions 10 and 11, in the District of
    Suburban North; thence in a westerly
    direction for about 8 chains; and
    thence in a northerly direction for
    about 20 chains, until it strikes the
    present trunk line of road at a point
    about 5 chains southward of the inter-
    section between sections 12 and 13,
    the same being the portion of road
    above high-water mark to the west-
    ward of sections 11 and 12.

And to substitute in the place thereof a
certain other road 60 links in width,
commencing at the same point as the
portion proposed to be stopped up, and
proceeding in a northerly direction
across section 11, and in the same
direction across portion of section 12;
the total distance being about 30
chains, and is shown by blue color on
plan annexed.
