All Public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those Persons to whom they may relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

PROCLAMATION.
I ALFRED SAUNDERS, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in exercise of the power and authority vested in me in that behalf do hereby proclaim and declare that the two buildings now used as Lockups situated at the TOWNSHIPS of COBDEN and the TWELVE-MILE respectively being within the limits of the Nelson South-west Gold-fields, shall be deemed and taken to be two of the PUBLIC GAOLS of the Colony of New Zealand.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Nelson, this Twentieth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

IN pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf by a Commission given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, and bearing date the 13th day of October, 1865, I hereby appoint the following gentlemen to be a Committee for the Province of Nelson, for the purpose of encouraging the production of articles to be exhibited at the International and Industrial Exhibitions to be held at PARIS, BOMBAY, and MELBOURNE, viz.:—
