THE particular attention of OWNERS of SHEEP in the districts comprised in the basins of the Waimea, Takaka, Aorere, and also the Motueka below Dovedale, is directed to the following sections of the "Nelson Scab Act, 1865," which come into operation in those districts on and after the First day of February next.

- Every owner of sheep infected with scab shall give immediate notice of such infection to the Inspector, who shall thereupon require such owner to deliver up any certificate of cleanliness he may hold in respect of such sheep, and to brand his flock or such of his sheep as the Inspector may deem to be infected, with some conspicuous distinguishing mark, to indicate their diseased condition, and shall then, if required by such owner, issue to him a license giving to such owner three months' freedom from penalty under clause 10 of this Act, on account of keeping such diseased sheep, and such license may be renewed for a further period of three months upon the payment of Twopence per head, and may be renewed a second time for the same period upon payment of a further fee of Fourpence per head, and a third time for a like period upon payment of a further fee of Sixpence per head: Provided that the issue and renewal of every such license shall be forthwith entered by the Inspector on a register, which shall be left at some convenient place within the district, and open for public inspection at all usual business hours.
