PROROGATION OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

Speech of his Honor the SUPERINTENDENT, on the prorogation of the Thirteenth Session of the Nelson Provincial Council, on the 21st July, 1865.

MR. SPEAKER AND GENTLEMEN OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

On behalf of his Excellency the Governor I have assented to the following Acts.

  1. "An Act to settle an Annuity upon the Widow and Family of John Perry Robinson, Esquire, late Superintendent of the Province of Nelson."

  2. "An Act to provide for the inspection of Carriages used for the conveyance of Passengers for hire."

  3. "An Act to Repeal the Thistle Act."

  4. "An Act to appropriate the Revenue of the Province of Nelson for the year ending the Thirty-first day of March, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six."

  5. "An Act to make provisions to prevent the spread of Scab in Sheep."

I have reserved for the signification of his Excellency's pleasure thereon—

"An Act to repeal the 'Provincial Council Enlargement Ordinance,' and to make other provisions in lieu thereof."

Under the "Annuity Act," I have appointed Messrs. H. Adams, J. Blackett, and I. M. Hill as Trustees, and the sum authorised in the Act has been paid over to them for investment.

I thank you for the great attention you have given to each of the measures submitted to you, and trust that they may prove permanently beneficial to the Province.
