ALTERATION OF ROADS.
Survey Office, Nelson, Dec. 29, 1859.
THE undersigned hereby give notice, that
they intend to APPLY to two or more Jus-
tices of the Peace, having jurisdiction within the
Province of Nelson, at a sitting to be held on
MONDAY, the 20th day of February, 1860, at the
Court House, Nelson, for an order for STOPPING
UP, DIVERTING, and MAKING the under-men-
tioned ROADS; and further, that we will cause
survey plans of the several roads proposed to be
stopped up, substituted, and made, together with the
books of reference and estimates, to be deposited on
or before the 10th day of January, 1860, with the
Clerk to the Magistrates at Nelson, and with Mr.
GEORGE TAYLOR, constable for the district of the
Takaka.
1.—To stop up parts of a road in the Takaka dis-
trict, lying between sections numbered 13 and 14
and section numbered 17, commencing at or
about ten chains from the division line between
sections 17 and 19, and running in a north-west
direction, and terminating at the river Takaka.
Also, to stop up other part of the said road, com-
mencing at or about twenty-five chains from the
division line between sections numbered 17
and 19, and running in a south-east direction,
and terminating at the division line between
sections numbered 10 and 12 respectively. Also,
to stop up part of a road in the said dis-
trict, commencing and branching off in a south-
west direction at right angles from the last men-
tioned road, and lying between section 18 on
the one side, and sections 19 and 20 on the other
side, and terminating at its junction with the
proposed line of road from the Waitapu to the
river Takaka.
And to substitute in the place thereof a certain
other road in the said district, 75 links in width,
commencing at a place known as Manuka Point,
in section No. 16, and running in a south-west
direction, about 25 chains through the said
section, and partly through a native reserve;
thence in a south-east direction until it strikes
the line of road in front of Mr. Haldane's house;
thence from a point on the said line of road at or
about 35 chains in a south-east direction, until it
strikes the Motupipi trunk line of road; thence
in a south-west direction, about 3 chains, being
a continuation of the Motupipi trunk line of road;
and thence in a south-east direction, until it strikes
the river Takaka, at or near the spot known as
Spittal's Ferry.
2.—To stop up part of a certain road in the said
district, and lying between sections numbered 5
and 9 on the one side, and 6 and 10 on the other
side, and commencing at about three chains from
the Motupipi mud flat and terminating at the
Motupipi trunk line of road near the banks of
the river Motupipi.
And to substitute in the place thereof a
certain other road in the said district, 75
links in width, commencing at the banks of
the river Motupipi, and proceeding in a south-
western direction through sections numbered
respectively 5 and 9, and terminating at or near
the banks of the said river, about 105 chains,
thence about 15 chains in a north-west direction,
till it joins the road running between sections
numbered 10 and 18, thence in a westerly di-
rection for about 10 chains through section
numbered 18, and thence in a south-west direc-
tion about 50 chains, through the said section
18, until it strikes the proposed line of road from
the Waitapu to Spittal's Ferry. Also, a cer-
tain other road, 60 links in width, running
in a north-westerly direction about 44 chains,
through sections numbered respectively 5 and 6,
and commencing at the Motupipi trunk line of
road, and continuing along the division line of
the sections until it strikes the division line be-
tween sections numbered respectively 6 and 7,
Takaka district.
3.—To make a new road, 60 links in width, com-
mencing at the road line running in front of Mr.
Haldane's house, and proceeding in a south-west
direction for about five chains through section
numbered 17, district of Takaka, thence in a
southerly direction through the said section to
the division line between sections numbered 17
and 19, about five chains, thence in a south-west
direction on the boundary line of the said section
17, until it reaches the river Takaka, distance
about 18 chains. Also, to continue the said road
in a north-westerly direction for about 16 chains,
through section numbered 31 in the said dis-
trict, thence in a westerly direction 37 chains,
through the said section, until it strikes the divi-
sion line between the said section 37 and section
numbered 42, and thence in a south-west direc-
tion through the said section 31, until it strikes
the line of road running between sections num-
bered 32 and 42, in the said district.
4.—To stop up parts of a certain road in the dis-
trict of Takaka, commencing at or about one
chain south of the division line between sections
numbered 31 and 32, and continuing in a south-
west direction to the division line between sec-
tions 39 and 44.
And to substitute for the same a certain other
road, 60 links in width, commencing from where the
last-mentioned road was commenced to be stopped
up, and running in a southerly direction about
15 chains, through section 32; thence in a westerly
direction, through the said section 32 and section
43, about 14 chains; thence in a southerly direc-
tion, through the said section 43 and section
numbered 33, about 16 and 12 chains; and thence
in a south-westerly direction 11 chains, 10 chains,
and 12 chains, through the said section 33 and
section 44, until it strikes the division line be-
tween sections numbered 44 and 39 respectively,
at a point about 16 chains from the south-east
angle of the said section numbered 44.
