NOTICE TO MARINERS.

PENCAEROW LIGHTHOUSE.

Wellington, 7th December, 1858.

Notice is hereby given that, on and after the 1st day of January next, a new light will be exhibited on Pencarrow Head, at the entrance of Port Nicholson (Wellington), Cook\'s Strait, New Zealand.

The new light will be of the second order (catadioptric system), with eclipses at intervals of two minutes; it will be 420 feet above high water-mark, and visible in ordinary weather at a distance of thirty English miles.

The following are the magnetic bearings and distances of the site of the new Lighthouse:—

From Baring Head, N.W., 3 1/2 miles.
From Sinclair Head, E. by N., 6 1/4 miles.
From Outer Rock of Barrett\'s Reef, S.E. by E. 1/2 E., 1 mile.
From Steeple Rock, S.S.E., 2 miles.
From Cape Campbell, N.N.E. 1/2 E., 33 miles.
The Lighthouse is in Latitude 41 deg. 22 min. S. Longitude 174 deg. 51 min. 15 sec. E.

Nelson, 3rd January, 1859.

I, THE undersigned, ALFRED FELL, of the Town of Nelson, in the Province of Nelson, New Zealand, Land Agent, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that I intend to APPLY to two or more Justices of the Peace having jurisdiction in the said province, at a meeting to be held on WEDNESDAY, the 2nd day of March now next, at the Court House, Wairau, for an ORDER for STOPPING UP and DIVERTING the under-mentioned ROADS: And I hereby give further notice that I will cause survey plans of the roads proposed to be stopped up and the roads proposed to be substituted for the same, together with the books of reference, to be deposited with the Clerk to the Magistrates, and with Mr. JOSEPH M\'ARTNEY, Chief Constable for the district of the Wairau.

To stop up a road in the district of the Wairau, between sections numbered 46, Opawa, and 1, Omaka, commencing at the junction of the aforesaid road with a road called Grove Road, on the plan of the Town of Beaver, and proceeding 20 chains 50 links in a southerly direction to Leeds Quay, on the plan of the Town of Beaver:

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road through the aforesaid section, numbered 1, Omaka, 75 links in width, and named Grove Road on the plan of the Town of Beaver, for a distance of 44 chains; and also a street in the Town of Beaver, 60 links in width, called Sinclair-street, for a distance of 15 chains, and terminating at Leeds Quay.

APPLICATIONS for DEPASTURE LICENSES, in accordance with the Land Regulations of the 1st of July, 1856, received by the Commissioner of Crown Lands to the 31st December, 1858:—

Boundaries—On the North by the Kaikora range; on the East, by the River Kahutera; on the South, by the back line of Messrs. Keene\'s run; and on the West, by Sherwood Forest.
Estimated extent—20,000 acres.

Wm. Robinson
District—The Hanmer.
Boundaries—On the West, by the eastern boundary of Mr. J. Watts\' and Mr. G. Hooper\'s runs; on the North, by Mr. Carter\'s southern boundary; on the East, by the source of the Hanmer.
Estimated extent—10,000 acres.
Deposit paid—£15.

Wm. Robinson
District—The Clarence.
Boundaries—On the West, by Mr. Chas. Watts\' eastern boundary; on the North, by the River Clarence; on the South, by Mr. W. M\'Rae\'s north boundary; Eastward, by a spur running into the Clarence opposite the River Dee.
Estimated extent—10,000 acres.
Deposit paid—£15.
