PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS GORE BROWNE, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly, entitled the "Marriage Act Amendment Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor at any time, by proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to divide the colony of New Zealand, for the purposes of the said Act, into such and many districts as he shall think fit; and every such district shall be called by a distinct name, and shall be a Registrar's district: Provided always, that the Governor may at any time revoke the whole or any part of such proclamation, and issue a new proclamation, dividing the colony, or any portion of it, anew into districts; or increasing the number, or altering the boundaries of districts, as from time to time he may think requisite; and it was provided that the districts already proclaimed under "The Marriage Act, 1854," shall be deemed to be districts constituted under the now recited Act:
Now, therefore, I, the Governor of the said colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said in part recited Act, do hereby revoke every proclamation at any time heretofore issued, appointing and declaring Registrars' districts under the said "Marriage Act, 1854," and the said "Marriage Act Amendment Act, 1858," or either of the said Acts; and I do, by this proclamation, divide the said colony, for the purposes of the said Act, into districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follows :β
AORERE DISTRICT.
From Wakapaoi Point to Point Pillar; thence along the sea coast to Rangiaieta; thence along watershed summit to Slate River Peak, Lead Hill, and Mount Olympus; thence to summit of Snowdon and Mount Domett;
