Nelson, October 6, 1856.

APPLICATIONS will be received at the Land Office, on and after the 31st day of December now next ensuing, at twelve o'clock, noon, from persons wishing to PURCHASE LAND, or OBTAIN LICENSES for DEPASTURING STOCK, or for CUTTING TIMBER, in the districts newly acquired from the natives, viz., from the native reserve at Wakapuaka to the mouth of the River Wairau, including the land unsold on the north bank of the said river, Port Underwood, Queen Charlotte's Sound, the Pelorus Estuary, Port Gore, the Croixelles, and also all that tract of land on the west coast lying between West Wanganui and the River Grey: and all persons having any claims for land in the above-mentioned districts are requested to lodge the same at the Land Office, on or before the 27th day of December, 1856.

APPLICATIONS for DEPASTURING LICENSES, in accordance with the Provincial Land Regulations, received by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, from the 1st July to the 30th September, 1856.

Alfred Greenfield Amuri North by the summit ridge of the Kai Koura range of mountains; East by the Crown reserve at a beach at a point at the mouth of the river Kahutara; South partly by the river Kahutara and partly by the run held under license by Mr. John Tinline; West by the summit of the Kai Koura range: Estimated extent, eight thousand acres (8,000 acres) Β£ s. d. 15 0 0
Alfred Dobson Amuri On the West by a straight line in the direction of the river Pahau for three miles, and thence by the river Pahau from its source to the bend at the edge of the Hurunui plain; on the South by the river Pahau from the last-named point to a point three miles lower down the river; on the East by a straight line from the last-named point to the bend in the river Wai-au-ua, and thence by the river Wai-au-ua for three miles in a northerly direction; on the North by a straight line from the last-named point to the commencement of the western boundary: Estimated extent, twenty thousand acres 30 0 0
W. L. Shepherd Hurunui Southward and Eastward by the river Wai-au-ua; Northward by a gully in the Leslie Hills running parallel with the present bridle-track across the said hills, and a small stream rising in the said hills and running across the Wai-au-ua plain into the river Wai-au-ua; Westward by the river Hanmer: Estimated extent, twenty thousand acres 30 0 0
