as the said alterations were defined in the
notice of the Commissioner of Public Works,
dated the 8th day of April, 1856, have been
confirmed by the Superintendent and Executive
Council.

I, THE undersigned, ALFRED DOBSON,
of the Town of Nelson, in the Province of
Nelson, Commissioner of Public Works, hereby give
Notice, that I intend to APPLY to two or more
Justices of the Peace having jurisdiction in the said
province, at a MEETING to be held on MONDAY, the
Eighth day of December now next, at the Court House,
Nelson, for an ORDER for STOPPING UP and
DIVERTING the under-mentioned ROADS. And
I hereby give further notice, that I will, on or before
the Twenty-fifth day of this present October, cause
survey plans of the respective roads proposed to be
stopped up, and of the respective roads proposed to
be substituted for the same, together with books of
reference, containing the names of the owners, lessees,
and occupiers of the lands through which the respec-
tive new roads are intended to pass, and estimates
of the expense of the respective works, to be deposited
with the Clerk to the Magistrates, and with the con-
stables of the respective districts in or nearest to
which the said roads are respectively situated, namely,
with Mr. THOMAS FAGAN, of Nelson, for the district
of Suburban South; with Mr. THOMAS ANDREWS, of
Waimea South, for the district of Waimea South;
and with Mr. JOHN BOXES, of Motueka, for the dis-
trict of Motueka:—

1.—To stop up parts of a certain road in the dis-
trict of Suburban South through Section No. 16,
commencing at the main line of road from Nel-
son to the Waimea, and proceeding about 38
chains in a south-west direction, and terminating
at the brook known as Jenkins's Brook. Also to
stop up part of a certain other road branching out
of the aforesaid road, commencing at the point
where it leaves the first-named road, and proceed-
ing about 18 chains in a north direction through
the aforesaid section No. 16, and terminating at
the aforesaid main line of road. Also to stop up
part of a certain other road in the same district
through Section No. 42, commencing from the
main line of road aforesaid, and proceeding about
43 chains in a south-east direction, and termi-
nating at a point where it enters the continuation
of the first-named road.

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain
other road in the said district, 50 links in width,
through the aforesaid Section No. 16, commencing
at the main line of road aforesaid at the same
point as the first-named road, and proceeding in
a nearly similar direction about 38 chains, and
terminating at Jenkins's Brook near the termi-
nation of the road proposed to be stopped up.
Also to open a certain other new road in the said
district and through the same section, 60 links in
width, commencing at the termination of the
above proposed road, and proceeding about 23
chains in a general north-west direction along the
south-west side of Jenkins's drain, and terminating
at the main line of road aforesaid near the bridge
known as Jenkins's Bridge.

2.—To stop up part of a certain road in the district
of Waimea South abutting on Sections Nos. 53,
114, 54, and 60, commencing 31 chains from the

north-west corner of Section No. 53, and proceed-
ing 6 chains in a south-east direction, thence
about 36 chains in a general east direction to the
road between Sections 54 and 60, and thence
about 23 chains in a general south-south-west
direction, and terminating at the road between
Sections No. 60 and 120. Also to stop up part
of a certain other road in the said district between
Sections Nos. 60 and 120, commencing at the
south-east corner of Section No. 54, and proceed-
ing in a south-east direction about 12½ chains,
and terminating at the proposed substituted new
road. Also to stop up part of a certain other
road in the said district abutting upon Sections
Nos. 54 and 60, commencing at the north-western
corner of Section No. 120, and proceeding about
11½ chains in a north-east direction, and ter-
minating at the road substituted new road:

And to substitute in the place thereof
a certain other road in the said district,
75 links in width, commencing 31 chains
from the north-west corner of Section No. 53,
and proceeding about 35 chains in a general east-
south-east direction through Sections Nos. 53
and 54, thence continuing about 13 chains in a
south-east direction through Sections Nos. 54
and 60, and about 12 chains in a south direction
through Section No. 60, and terminating at the
road between Sections Nos. 60 and 120 at a point
about 12 chains from the north-west corner of
Section No. 120.

3.—To stop up part of a certain road in the district
of Motueka abutting on Sections Nos. 199 and
200, commencing from the road known as the
Base-line road, and proceeding along the left
bank of the Moutere River about 16 chains in a
north-west direction, and about 35 chains in a
south-west direction, and terminating where it
enters the road situated at the south side of Sec-
tion No. 200:

And to substitute in the place thereof a cer-
tain other road in the said district 75 links in
width, commencing from the aforesaid Base-line
Road at a point about 12 chains north of the
Moutere River, and proceeding through Section
No. 199 about 32 chains in a west-south-west
and about 9 chains in a south direction, thence con-
tinuing through Section No. 200 about 16 chains
in a west direction, and about 14 chains in a
south direction, and terminating in the aforesaid
road, situated at the south side of Section No.
200 at a point about 15 chains west of the afore-
said Moutere River.

I, THE undersigned, JAMES WILLIAM
MACDONALD, of 55, King William-street,
London, England, Esquire, hereby give notice that I
intend to apply to two or more Justices of the Peace
having jurisdiction in the Province of Nelson, and
MONDAY, the 1st day of December now next en-
suing, at the Court House, Nelson, for an ORDER to
STOP UP the under-mentioned STREET. And I
hereby give further notice that I have caused a survey
plan of such street, and an estimate of the expense
of such work, to be deposited with the Clerk to the
Magistrates at Nelson, and with Mr. THOMAS FAGAN
of Nelson, Constable, that is to say,

A certain street in the said Town of Nelson, being a
portion of Tukuka-street, from a street called
Murphy-street to the Britannia Heights.
