ELECTION OF SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE PROVINCE OF NELSON.

WHEREAS Edward William Stafford, Esquire, hath resigned the office of Superintendent for the Province of Nelson, and a Writ under the hand of Colonel Thomas Goro Browne, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, &c., &c., has been directed to me, JOHN POYNTER, Esquire, Resident Magistrate and Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Nelson, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected, by and amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as SUPERINTENDENT of the said province:

Now therefore, I, the said JOHN POYNTER, do hereby, in pursuance of the said Writ, give notice that I appoint MONDAY, the thirteenth day of October next, at the COURT HOUSE, NELSON, at noon, for the NOMINATION to take place; and, in the event of a poll being demanded, I hereby further appoint THURSDAY, the thirtieth October next, for the POLLING to take place.

The polling to commence at ten o'clock in the forenoon, and close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in the event of a POLL BEING DEMANDED at the above ELECTION, the following will be additional Polling Places, at which the Vote of any Person on the Roll can be taken for any District in the Province :β€”

Suburban-north, at the Black Horse, Suburban-north
Suburban-south, at the School-house, Suburban-south
Waimea-east, at the School-house, Richmond
Waimea-west, at the School-house, Waimea-west
Waimea-south, at the School-house, Waimea-south
Moutere, at Mr. Hewetson's house, Moutere
Motueka, at the School-house, Motueka
Motupipi, at the School-house, Motupipi
Wairau-valley, at Mr. Watts', Wairau
Wairau-plain, at the Beaver-station
Awatere, at Mr. George M'Rae's
Amuri, at Mr. E. Jollie's.

IT is hereby notified for general information, that the ORDERS of the Justices of the Peace, dated the Sixteenth day of June, 1856, for the ALTERATION of the following Roads, viz.

  1. A road in the Town of Nelson, being part of the Haven Road,
  2. A road in the Waimea South district,
  3. A road in the Waimea West district,
  4. A road in the Motueka district,
