All Public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those Persons to whom they may relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, in accordance with the provisions of an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Nelson, Session II., No. 5, intituled "An Ordinance to provide for the Protection of Roads," that it is intended to proclaim that the provisions of the third clause of the above-mentioned Ordinance shall come into operation in the following districts, viz.β€”

  1. The Village of Richmond, as defined in the Proclamation bringing it under the operation of the Cattle Trespass Ordinance.

  2. The main Road leading from the Town of Nelson to the aforesaid Village of Richmond.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for general information, that a further knowledge of the Country between the Town of Nelson and the Pelorus being desired, with a view to the formation of a Bridle Track, from the Happy Valley or the sources of the Wairoa, are requested to apply at this office on or before 12th October next.

Nelson, Sept. 12, 1855.

TENDERS will be received at this Office, on or before the 13th November next, from persons desirous of CONTRACTING TO EXECUTE any of the following WORKS, viz.β€”

To clear a Bridle Track, from the Top House, Wairau, to Tarndale, along those portions of Mr. Weld's track towards Canterbury which are obstructed by bush.

To clear such Stones or portions of Rock from the above-mentioned track as would impede the passage of stock.

To form a Road across the Swamp in the Wood in the Wairau Plain, between Ellis's and O'Brien's, by Section No. 35.

To form a short piece of Road, with a Bridge, by Section No. 71, on the road leading from Mr. John Godfrey's to Mr. Sinclair's.

Specifications and Forms of Tender for the under-mentioned Works may be seen at the Public Works Office, or at Mr. Sinclair's house, Wairau.

I, THE undersigned, ALFRED DOBSON, of the Town of Nelson, in the Province of Nelson, Commissioner of Public Works, hereby give Notice, that I intend to APPLY to two or more Justices of the Peace having jurisdiction in the said Province, at a Meeting to be held on MONDAY, the 29th day of October now next, at the Court House, Nelson, for an ORDER for STOPPING UP AND DIVERTING THE UNDERMENTIONED ROADS. And I hereby give further Notice, that I have caused Survey Plans of the respective Roads proposed to be stopped up, and of the respective Roads proposed to be substituted for the same, together with Books of Reference, containing the names of the owners, lessees, and occupiers of the lands
