through which the respective new roads are intended to pass. Estimates of the expense of the respective works to be deposited with the Clerk to the Magistrates, and with the Constables of the respective districts in or nearest to which the said roads are respectively situated, namely, with Mr. Thomas Fagan, of Nelson, for the town of Nelson, and the districts of Suburban North and Suburban South, and with Mr. John Boyes, of Motueka, for the district of Motueka.

1.—To stop up part of a certain road called Wellington-street, in the town of Nelson, abutting on Sections No. 152, No. 153, and No. 154, commencing at the corner of Wellington-street and Waimea-street, and proceeding in a south-west direction to a straight line, being the prolongation of the north side of Hardy-street:

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road through Section No. 669, in the said Town, 90 links in width, commencing at Waimea-street, exactly opposite the west end of Hardy-street, and proceeding due west until it enters the aforesaid Wellington-street.

2.—To stop up part of a certain road in the district of Suburban North, leading from Nelson to the Happy Valley, passing through Sections No. II., No. 29, and No. 30, commencing at a point seven chains from the south-east corner of a certain road in the said district called the Black Road, and proceeding 7½ chains in nearly a south-east direction, thence 16 chains in an east direction, thence 14½ chains in nearly a south-east direction, thence 11 chains in nearly a north-east direction, and thence continuing 30 chains in a general east direction to the point where it entered by the road now used:

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other Road in the said district, 68 links in width, commencing at the aforesaid point, seven chains from the south-east corner of the aforesaid Black Road, and proceeding in nearly an east direction 12 chains through Section No. II. to the drain called the New Zealand Company's Drain, thence along the south side of the said drain seven chains in nearly an east direction, and 19½ chains in nearly a south-east direction, through Sections No. II., No. 29, and No. 30, to the road now used, and thence proceeding in the direction of the road now used, through Sections No. 29 and No. 30, 14 chains in a north-east direction, and continuing through Sections No. 30 and No. II. 2½ chains in an east direction to the point where it enters the first-described road leading to the Happy Valley.

3.—To stop up part of a certain road in the district of Suburban South, branching out from the road leading from Nelson to Stoke, commencing where the said road leaves the Stoke Road, and proceeding about 9½ chains in a north-west direction through Section No. 42, thence 16 chains in a north-east direction between Sections No. 18 and No. 19, and terminating at the north-west corner of Section No. 18. Also to stop up part of a certain road in the said district branching out from the aforesaid road from Nelson to Stoke, and leading to the Quarantine Ground, abutting on the south-west on Sections No. 42, No. 43, and on the north-east on Sections No. 42, No. 19, and No. 81, commencing where the said road leaves the Stoke Road, and proceeding in a north-west direction for about fire chains, and terminating where the said road is crossed by the proposed substituted road hereinafter mentioned.

Also to stop up part of a certain other road in the said district, branching out from the aforesaid road from Nelson to Stoke, and leading towards the sea, abutting on the east side on Sections No. 42, No. 43, and No. 19, and on the west side on Sections No. 43 and No. 81, commencing where the said road leaves the Stoke Road, and proceeding about 6 chains in a north-east direction, thence continuing 31½ chains in a north direction, save and except the portion crossed by the proposed substituted Road hereinafter mentioned, and terminating at the point where it is entered by the proposed substituted road hereinafter mentioned:

And to substitute, in the place thereof, a certain other Road in the said district, commencing at the Stoke Road at a point one chain south-west of the aforesaid road leading to the Quarantine Ground, and proceeding 4½ chains in a north-west direction, with a width of 75 links, through Sections No. 42 and No. 43 to the Quarantine Ground aforesaid, and thence continuing 25½ chains in a general north direction, with a width of 60 links, through Section No. 81, until it enters the last-described road leading to the sea.

4.—To stop up part of a certain road, in the district of Motueka, leading from the Moutere Plain to the Motueka River, through Sections No. 241 and No. 250, commencing at a point about 23 chains west of the south-east corner of Section No. 241, and proceeding one chain in a west direction, thence in a north-west direction 14 chains, thence 10 chains in a south-west direction, and thence continuing 12½ chains in a west direction. Also to stop up part of a road branching out of the same, and also leading to the Motueka River between Sections No. 241 and No. 250, for 1½ chains, from its commencement at the first-described road to the point where it is crossed by the road hereinafter described:

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road in the said district, 75 links in width, commencing from a point 22 chains from the south-east corner of the said Section No. 241, and proceeding through Section No. 241 13½ chains in a nearly north-west direction to the last-mentioned road leading to the Motueka River, thence proceeding through Section No. 250 in nearly a north-west direction for 11 chains, thence through the same Section in nearly a south-west direction for 18 chains, and thence continuing through the same Section in nearly a south direction five chains until it enters the first-described road leading to the Motueka River.
