THE Commissioner of Crown Lands
for the Province of Marlborough,
hereby give notice that at noon on
FRIDAY, the First day of October next,
the Allotments of Suburban Land, and
Rural Land, set forth in the Schedule
hereto annexed, will be put up to Auction
and offered for sale by public competition,
at the Survey Office, Blenheim, in the
said Province, at the upset prices mentioned in the said Schedule, in accordance
with the provisions of "The Marlborough
Waste Lands Act, 1867," and "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act 1867 Amendment Act, 1874."

Ten per cent. of the purchase money
must be deposited at the Sale, and the
remainder within one month, or the
deposit will be forfeited.

Dated at the Crown Lands Office,
Blenheim, in the said Province, this Twenty-fifth day of
August, 1875.

REGULATIONS FOR ISSUING TIMBER LICENSES.

THE following Regulations for the issue
of Timber Licenses are published for
general information :-

For Lands not under Pastoral Leases.

All applications for Timber Licenses
shall be referred to the Waste Lands
Board; and in all cases in which the
Board shall decide to issue a License a fee
of One Pound shall be charged, and if the
License extends over an area of more than
ten acres, it shall be put up to auction at
such upset price as the Waste Lands Board
shall determine.

Every application shall be accompanied
by a deposit sufficient to cover expenses of
survey.

A tithe of Sixpence per one hundred
feet, measured in the log, shall be charged
upon all timber cut down, whether used
or not.

All rents shall be paid one year in advance, and shall be charged on the following scale, provided always that when the
amount of tithes exceeds the rent, the rent
shall be deducted; and when the amount
of tithes is less than the rent, the rent
only shall be charged :-

£15 ... for less than 60 acres
5s. per acre ... from 60 to 100
4s. ... 100 to 300
3s. ... 300 to 500
2s 6d. ... 500 and upwards.

No License shall be issued for more than
one thousand acres, and the duration of a
License shall be for such term as the Waste
Lands Board may determine, not to exceed
ten years.

For Lands under Pastoral Leases.

The holder of a Pastoral Lease may take
out a License to cut and remove timber
over the whole of his leasehold during the
currency of his Lease, provided that it shall
have not more than ten years to run, for
which a fee of One Pound shall be charged.

The License shall provide for the payment of a tithe of Fourpence for every one
hundred feet, measured in the log, upon
all timber cut down, whether used or not;
provided always that instead of paying
such tithe, the holders of the License may
elect to pay an acreage rent of One Pound
per acre, in which case he must have a
properly executed survey made, having the
lines cut round the land over which the
acreage rent is to be paid, and shall furnish
the Commissioner of Crown Lands with a
properly executed plan of such survey.
