DECISIONS in favor of the following applicants for Depasturing Licenses and Leases have been given, in accordance with "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act, 1867":—

For Licenses.

George Henry Harris.—District of Pelorus Sound. Estimated extent: 3,200 acres.

Thomas Gould.—District of Pelorus Sound, between Maori and Nydia Bays. Estimated extent: 500 acres. (All timbered land draining into Maori Bay to be excluded.)

For Leases.

William Adams.—District of North Bank of Wairau. Estimated extent: 4,400 acres.

William Atkinson.—District of Clarence. Estimated extent: 30,000 acres.

THE following Application for a Depasturing Lease has been received by me in accordance with "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act, 1867":

James Edmund Hodson.—District of Waihopai. Boundaries: West and North by leasehold land on the Castle Run, and freehold land on the Benopai Run; towards the East and South by Sections 141 and 140 on the Benopai Run, and leasehold land on the Redwood Run. Estimated extent: 1,686 acres. Deposit paid: £4.

TIMBER LICENSE.

Crown Lands Office,
Blenheim, 24th August, 1875.

HEREBY notify that it is the intention of the Waste Lands Board to grant a Timber License over Sections 45, 46, and 86, Kaiuma, Pelorus Sound, containing 142 acres more or less, for the term of one year, to such person as shall become the purchaser of the same at public auction, to be holden at the Survey Office, Blenheim, immediately after the sale of Crown Lands, appointed to take place at

noon on Friday, the First day of October next: Provided that if within one month from the date of publication of this notice, as required by Section 12 of "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act 1867 Amendment Act, 1874," any person shall state to the Board his objection to granting such License, and the Board shall decide to maintain the objection, such License will be withdrawn from sale.

The year’s rent will be £28 8s., and a fee of £1 will be charged for issuing the License: provided that if the rent shall amount to less than sixpence per hundred feet (measured in the log) of timber cut down (whether used or not), the difference shall be paid to the Crown, as provided by the printed Regulations, to which the license will be subject.

The upset price of the License will be One Shilling, and competition to be upon that sum.

Ten per cent. of the rent, license fee, and purchase money, shall be paid at the Auction, and the balance within one month, or the money so paid will be forfeited.

The License will not be issued until the balance has been paid.

COUNTY OF KAIKOURA.

Byelaw No. 1, 1875.

THE Road Board for the County of Kaikoura, in the Province of Marlborough, ordain as follows, that is to say:

From and after the twenty-ninth day of June, 1875, the provisions of an Act of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the said Province entitled "The Cattle Trespass Act, 1867," shall be in operation over the public roads of the County of Kaikoura; and the Inspector to the Road Board, or any other persons appointed for that purpose from time to time by the said Board, may cause any Cattle found trespassing on such roads to be impounded.
