PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor William Henry Eyes, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough, in the Colony of New Zealand.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act,” Session XI., No. 4, clause xvii, I hereby notify that I have appointed Saturday, the twenty-sixth day of January, 1867, at noon, as the day on which meetings shall be held at the places and for the districts hereinafter specified, for the election of Local Committees for the purposes of the said Act, and the said elections shall be conducted in the manner following:

A Chairman having been appointed, the ratepayers in each district shall proceed to elect three resident householders to form the Local Committee of that district: Provided that if there be more candidates proposed than the number to be elected, the Chairman shall call for a show of hands separately in favor of each candidate, and after such show of hands shall declare the persons on whom the election has fallen. If, however, any candidate or two ratepayers shall demand a poll, a polling shall take place on the same day, and the Chairman of such meeting shall preside at such polling, the voting to commence at 1 p.m., and close at 4 p.m. on the same day, and the mode of voting shall in all other respects be conducted in the same manner as is provided for the election of members of the Provincial Council, and the Chairman of such meetings shall report in writing to the Superintendent the names of the persons elected to form the Local Committees.

For the District of Wairau Valley—The School House.

For the District of Havelock—The School House.

For the District of Mahakipawa—The School House.

For the District of Spring Creek—The School House.

For the District of Kaioura—The School House.

Given under my hand, at the Superintendent’s Office, Blenheim, this second day of January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned persons have been duly licensed under clause 16 of “The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” to act as Custom-house Agents at the Port of Wairau:—
