Local Committees of Education.

Superintendent’s Office,
Blenheim, Feb. 7th, 1866.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the following gentlemen have been elected to form Local Committees under the provisions of the "Education Act, 1865," for the undermentioned districts respectively:—

Town of Blenheim,
Messrs. George Henderson, F. J. Litchfield, and John Mack Hutcheson;

Town of Picton,
The Rev. T. L. Tudor, Messrs. Joseph Rowe Gard, and A. Beauchamp;

Wairau Valley,
Capt. the Hon. W. D. H. Baillie, Messrs. J. Bonnington, and J. Whayman;

Havelock,
Messrs. R. W. Watson, Thomas Gwilliam, and Charles Leov.

Appointment of Commissioners of Education.

Superintendent’s Office,
Blenheim, Feb. 7th, 1866.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that whereas the qualified Electors of several Educational Districts have neglected to elect Local Committees in accordance with the proclamation issued on that behalf, and bearing date the fourth day of January, 1866; he has, in accordance with the twentieth clause of the "Education Act, 1866," appointed the following gentlemen Commissioners for the undermentioned districts respectively:—

District of Renwick,
H. Godfrey, Esquire, J.P.;

District of Spring Creek,
Mr. G. Dodson;

District of Mahakipawa,
Messrs. Herbert Gaby, A. Duncan, and W. W. Corpe;

District of Kai Koura,
Messrs. S. Poulter, Emery Harman, and William Smith.

HIS Honor the Superintendent has been pleased to appoint
G. L. Mellish, Esquire, R.M.,
to be a Visiting Justice of the Picton Gaol.

THE following Byelaws of the Blenheim Board of Works having been submitted to his Honor the Superintendent, and confirmed by him in accordance with clause 49, "Blenheim Improvement Act, 1864," are now published for general information.

BYE-LAWS

of Blenheim Board of Works.

  1. All footpaths in the town of Blenheim shall be of an uniform width of six feet.

  2. All verandahs in the town of Blenheim shall be suspended from the building without any supports resting on the street; the roof covering to consist of metal or any other approved material; boarded and shingled roofing strictly prohibited. No verandahs shall be nearer than seven feet from the level of the footpath, and shall not exceed the width of the said footpath. All persons erecting verandahs, awnings, sunblinds, &c., shall do so under the direction of the Board, the said Board having the power to determine of what material, and of what dimensions such verandah, sunblind, awning, &c., shall be. No application shall be received by the Board except it be accompanied by all the particulars of construction of such verandah, awning, sun-blind or any other erection over the footpath.
