circumference of a circle of four miles radius, measured from the centre of the Educational Reserve, or section numbered 14, Wairau Valley.

SPRING CREEK DISTRICT,
Bounded Northward and Eastward by the Wairau River; on the South-east by a line of road from the Wairau River, dividing sections numbered 43 and 44, and continuing along the said road until it reaches the River Opawa between sections Nos. 39 and 65; and on the Southward and South-westward by the Opawa River, to its junction with the Wairau River, near a Public Reserve, No. 119 on the plan of the Wairau Plain.

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the boundaries of these Educational Districts be altered, and other districts constituted, it is hereby notified that the following districts shall be the Educational Districts under the Act, viz. :

PICTON DISTRICT,
Comprising the Town of Picton, and the District of Picton Suburban.

BLENHEIM DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Blenheim and Lower Wairau.

RENWICK DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Upper Wairau.

WAIRAU VALLEY DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Wairau Valley.

HAVELOCK DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Pelorus.

MAHAKIPAWA DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Queen Charlotte Sound.

KAIKORA DISTRICT,
Comprising the Provincial Electoral District of Clarence.

SPRING CREEK,
Comprising so much of the Provincial Electoral District of Tua Marina as is not included in the above Educational District of Picton.

AND WHEREAS it is provided by the said Act that there shall be levied yearly upon every householder in this Province a uniform rate of Twenty Shillings, and in each district established under the authority of this Act, a further sum of Five Shillings a quarter for each child of every householder between the ages of seven and fourteen years: Provided always that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act, nor for any child attending a school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such person shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the Teacher of such school, shewing that such child has attended such school during the three months previous to the levying of the rate.

All householders liable to be rated, and who have not paid the rate for the year 1865, are hereby called upon to pay the same on the First day of September next ensuing, and the undermentioned persons are hereby authorised to receive the same :

Mr. Sutherland, School-house, Wairau Valley
Mr. McHutchison, School-house, Blenheim
Mr. Moore, School-house, Renwick
Mr. Harris, School-house, Picton
Mr. Templeton, Accommodation-house, Awatere
J. D. Tetley, Esq., School-house, Kekerangu
Mounted-constable Goodall, Police-station, Kaikora
Sergeant Goodall, Police-station, Havelock
Mr. Gaby, Saw Mills, Mahakipawa.

It is hereby notified that Mr. Thomas Williams has been appointed Inspector of Schools.

It is hereby notified that Mr. Thomas Williams has been appointed Secretary to the Board of Education.
