Island, and the District comprising the
several Provinces of Auckland, Wellington,
Hawke’s Bay and Taranaki in the North
Island, were infected Districts within the
meaning of the "Diseased Cattle Act,
1861," and whereas it has been deemed expedient, that the Provinces of Wellington,
Hawke’s Bay, and Taranaki should be exempted from the provisions of the said Proclamation.
Now therefore, I, Thomas Carter, Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough,
do hereby RESCIND the said Proclamation, in so far as relates to the Provinces of
Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, and Taranaki
in the North Island.
Given under my hand at Picton this
twenty-seventh day of July, 1864.

PROCLAMATION.

Superintendent’s Office, Picton,
August 1st, 1864.

PELORUS TO WIT.

WHEREAS by delegation from His
Excellency Sir George Grey K.C.B.,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the
Colony of New Zealand the power has been
given to me to appoint Wardens as Judges
of the Wardens Court in the Province of
Marlborough in the said Colony aforesaid
under the powers given by Section 19 of
an Act of the General Assembly of New
Zealand intituled The Goldfields Act 1864.
And whereas it appears to me necessary
for the due administration of justice and
for the regulation of Miners’ Rights and
Claims on the Goldfields in the Pelorus
District in the Province of Marlborough
aforesaid I hereby appoint Mr. Walter
Hyppolite Pilliet to act as Sub-Warden
"ad interim" in the District of the Pelorus
aforesaid until permanent arrangements
may be made.

The aforesaid appointment to date from
twenty-fifth day of July, 1864.
Given under my hand and the Public
Seal of the Province of Marlborough at
Picton this First day of August One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Four.

IT is HEREBY NOTIFIED for General
Information that I have appointed Mr.
Theophilus Mabille to the office of Mining
Surveyor on the Pelorus Goldfields.
