PROCLAMATION

By His Honour Thomas Carter,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Marlborough in the
Colony of New Zealand, &c., &c.

I, Thomas Carter, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me on this behalf, do hereby fix and proclaim that the Eighth Session of the Provincial Council of Marlborough shall be held in the Provincial Hall, in the said province, and shall commence upon TUESDAY, the Twenty-fourth day of May, at Twelve o'clock at noon.

Marlborough, this Twenty-first
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.

MARLBOROUGH.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

of the

WAKAMARINA GOLD-FIELD.

Established at the instigation of the Diggers,
at a General Meeting held for the
purpose, on Monday, the
18th April, 1864.

PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY.

  1. That the extent of each claim shall be twenty feet by thirty feet either way.

  2. Should the whole of a party taking up a claim be absent from it three clear days, such claim shall be deemed forfeited; and, in case of any dispute, the matter shall be referred to not less than twelve diggers then on the field, and the decision of the majority in the matter shall be considered final. A chairman shall be appointed by the twelve arbitrators from amongst their number; and, in case of the votes being equal, the chairman shall be entitled to a casting vote.

  3. If, in the event of the whole of any party being absent from their claim longer than the stipulated time of three
