ORDER IN COUNCIL.
Bringing the "Crown Lands Act, 1862,"
into operation.

At the Government House, at Auckland,
the 28th day of February, 1863.

PRESENT:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Crown Lands Act, 1862," it
is enacted that the said Act shall come
into operation in each Province of New
Zealand on and from a day to be fixed by
the Governor in Council, to be notified in
the ‘Government Gazette’ of the Colony,
and also of the Province to which such notification shall apply:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of New Zealand, doth
hereby order that the "Crown Lands Act,
1862," shall come into operation within
each of the after-mentioned Provinces of
New Zealand, namely, in the Provinces of

Auckland
Wellington
Hawke’s Bay
Taranaki
Nelson

Marlborough
Canterbury
Otago
and
Southland

on and from the Sixth day of April next.

sides by Cook’s
Straits; an Island at
the head of Pelorus
Sound, known as
Nukuarata Island.
(The smaller of the
Chetwode Islands.)
Estimated extent —
Under 19,000 acres.
Deposit paid — £15.

District — Clarence.
Boundaries — Bounded
on the Eastward by
the river Mead; on
the Southward partly
by the river Clarence
from the junction of
the river Mead to
the junction of the
river Dee, and by the
river Dee for about
2½ miles, thence by
a line running in a
North-easterly direction till it intersects
the Western branch
of the river Mead.
Estimated extent —
About 7,000 acres.
Deposit paid — £10.
