Superintendent of the Province of Marl-
borough, the above recited powers.

Now, therefore, I, the said William
Douglas Hall Baillie, Superintendent of
the said province, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested, do
hereby appoint

COURTENAY KENNY, ESQUIRE,
Principal Returning Officer for the said
Province of Marlborough.

Given under my hand, at Picton, this
Twenty-eighth day of January one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honour WILLIAM DOUGLAS
HALL BAILLIE, Superintendent of
the Province of Marlborough, in the
Colony of New Zealand, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Gene-
ral Assembly of New Zealand,
intituled “The Provincial Elections
Act, 1858,” it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor of the Colony
to delegate to the Superintendent of any
province the power of appointing and
removing Returning Officers, and also
of appointing and establishing Polling
Places for the Election of Superinten-
dent or of Members of the Provincial
Council of such province:

And whereas His Excellency Colonel
Thomas Gore Browne, C.B., Governor
of the said Colony, by warrant under
his hand, bearing date the first day of
October, 1861, did delegate to me the
said William Douglas Hall Baillie, as
Superintendent of the Province of Marl-
borough, the above recited powers.

Now, therefore, I, the said William
Douglas Hall Baillie, Superintendent of
the said province, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested, do
hereby appoint

Districts of Tua Marina, Upper Wairau,

to be Returning Officer for the Districts


ELECTION NOTICE

ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF TUA MARINA.

In the Province of Marlborough, New Zealand.

In pursuance of the provisions of an
Act of the General Assembly of
New Zealand, intituled “The Regula-
tion of Elections Act, 1858,” and also
of another Act of the General Assem-
bly of New Zealand, intituled “The
Provincial Elections Act, 1858,”

COURTENAY KENNY, Returning Officer
for the Electoral District of Tua Ma-
rina, in the said province, do hereby
give notice that, by virtue of a Writ,
bearing date the Twenty-third day of
January, 1863, issued under the hand
of His Excellency the Governor of New
Zealand, an Election will be held for
the return of a qualified person to serve
as a member of the Provincial Council
of the said province, for the said Elec-
toral District, and that the Nomination
of Candidates will take place at the
Ferry House, at the Wairau river,
kept by Mr. Hathaway, on THURS-
DAY, the Twelfth day of February,
1863, at Twelve o’clock at noon, and
that the Poll, if necessary, will be
taken on SATURDAY, the Twenty-
first day of February, 1863.

Dated this Twenty-ninth day of
January, 1863.
