✨ Road Board Accounts and Appointment

within one month after the date thereof have communicated to the Superintendent a reason which to the Superintendent shall appear sufficient for such failure, neglect, or refusal, then the Superintendent shall appoint five persons qualified as in the Act provided, to be a District Board for the ensuing year, and the persons so appointed shall be empowered to act in all respects as if they had been elected at such first or annual meeting respectively. And whereas the ratepayers of the North Ruataniwha District have neglected to comply with the provisions of the Act.

Now, therefore I, John Davies Ormond, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby appoint the following five ratepayers to be a District Board for the ensuing year for the North Ruataniwha District, viz.:

Messrs. G. G. Carlyon, M. Stokes, J. Mathews, J. Holden, and H. McLean.

Given under my hand and seal of the Province of Hawke’s Bay this 11th day of November, 1873.
