Te Mata District.

Starting from the southern corner of the Mangateretere block west, on the old bed of the Ngarnroro River; thence up the old bed of the Ngarnroro River to the northern boundary of the Havelock suburban land; thence by that boundary to the road bounding Havelock suburban section 32, towards the south-east; thence by a straight line to the south-west corner of Lot 10, of Block 1, Kidnappers district; thence by the western boundary line of Lots 6, 8, and 10, of same block and district, to the boundary of the Clive suburban land; thence by the southern boundary of Clive suburban section 267, to the road bounding the same section towards the west; thence by that road to the west corner of Clive suburban section 184; thence across the Tuki Tuki River by a straight line to the north-east corner of the Mangateretere block; thence along the northern boundary line of that block to the Clive road; thence by that road to the Te Aute road; thence following along the Te Aute road to the eastern boundary of the Mangateretere block west; and from thence following along that boundary to the starting point at the southern corner of the said block.

Havelock and Pukahu District.

Starting from the southern corner of the Pukahu block, following the Middle road to the southern boundary of the Havelock suburban land; thence following the south-west boundary of the Havelock suburban land to the road bounding Havelock suburban section 39, towards the south-east; thence following that road to the north-east boundary of Havelock suburban land; thence by that boundary to the Ngarnroro River; thence up the Ngarnroro River to the Awanui Creek; thence up that creek to the road forming the north-west boundary of section 30, Pukahu; thence in a straight line to a point on the Te Aute road, 25 chains on the Havelock side of the 17th mile peg; thence following along the Te Aute road to where it is intersected by the continuation of the south-west boundary line of the Pukahu block, following that line to the starting point on the Middle road at the southern corner of the Pukahu block.

The above are the amended boundaries of districts before proclaimed.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor John Davies Ormond, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS under the provisions of the “District Highways Act, 1856,” Session 3, No. 4, of the Province of Wellington, and now in force in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the province, or any part thereof, into districts. And whereas it is expedient to bring certain districts in the Province of Hawke’s Bay under the operations of the said Act.

Now, therefore, I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that that portion of the province situate within the limits hereinafter specified, shall form and constitute a District for the purpose of the “District Highways Act, 1856,” viz.:

Waimarama District.

Starting from the month of the Pourerere Creek, thence in a straight line to the head of the Stoney Creek (Omakere); thence following down that creek to the western boundary line of block 74, Mangakuri district; thence along the western boundary lines of blocks 74 and 73; and the western and northern boundary lines of block 72; to the western boundary of block 30; thence along the western and northern boundary lines of that block and the northern boundary lines of blocks 29, 28, 27, 26, 25, and 24 to a Trig Station called Papahope, No. 1.; thence following the north-western boundary lines of blocks 24, 22, 13, 12, and 9, to the Mangakuri Stream; thence following a straight line to the easternmost corner of block 14, on the southern boundary of the Kairakau block; thence following the south-western and western boundaries of that block, and the western boundaries of Te Apiti and Waimarama blocks, to the Nga-Manga-tawa Stream; thence down that stream to the Maraetotara Stream; thence down that stream to the south-east corner of block 12, Kidnapper district; thence following the southern boundary of that block to the Manga-nga-rara Stream; thence down that stream to the Tuki Tuki River; thence down that river to the boundary between blocks 1 and 12, Kidnapper district; following the boundary between blocks 1 and 12, to the Maraetotara River; thence down that river to the southern boundary of block 5, Kidnapper district; thence following the southern boundary lines of blocks 5 and 6, to the sea coast, and from thence following southerly along the sea coast to the starting point at the mouth of the Pourerere Creek.

I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby notify that Mr. Thomas Green has been elected Warden, under the provisions of the “District Highways Act, 1856,” of the Havelock district.
