PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor John Davies Ormond, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS under the provisions of the “District Highways Act, 1856,” Session 3, No. 4, of the Province of Wellington, and now in force in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the province, or any part thereof, into districts; and, further, that he may in like manner subdivide or alter the same. And whereas divers districts, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, have been proclaimed under the said Act. And whereas it is expedient to make alterations in divers of the said district.
Now, therefore, I, John Davies Ormond, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that each several portion of the Province, situate within the limits hereinafter specified, as altered and defined by this Proclamation, shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the “District Highways Act, 1850,” viz:—
Heretaunga District.
Starting from Pakowhai pah, on the old bed of the Ngaruroro River; thence following up the old bed of the Ngaruroro River to the ford at the Karamu pah; thence following along the west side of the road leading into the Te Aute road to its junction with that road; thence following south-easterly along the Te Aute road to the eastern boundary of the Mangateretere block west; thence following along that boundary to the old bed of the Ngaruroro River; thence up the old bed of the Ngaruroro River, to where the Ngaruroro runs into the Waitio Creek; thence down that creek to the Tutaekuri-waimate Stream; thence down the Tutaekuri-waimate to the starting point at Pakowhai pah.
Clive and Heretaunga District.
Starting from the mouth of the Ngaruroro River; following up that river to the ford at the Karamupah; thence following along the west side of the road leading into the Te Aute road to its junction with that road; thence following south-easterly along the Te Aute road to its junction with the Clive road; thence down the Clive road to the northern boundary of the Mangateretere block; thence down the northern boundary line of that block to the north-east corner of the same block; thence to the southern corner of Clive suburban section 133, by a straight line; thence by the road bounding the same section towards the south-east across the lagoon to the sea beach; thence by the sea beach to the starting point at the mouth of the Ngaruroro River.
