NEW ZEALAND
INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION, 1865.
WHEREAS by Letters Patent under the hand of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, and the seal of the Colony, a commission has been appointed for the purpose of devising and carrying out an Exhibition of Agricultural and Industrial products and manufactures of the Colony of New Zealand, and such products and manufactures of other countries as may be calculated to be useful in the development of the said Colony: And whereas by the aforesaid Letters Patent authority is given to the Superintendents respectively of the Provinces of the said Colony to appoint in the several provinces Local Committees, for the purpose of encouraging the production of articles to be exhibited, of transmitting them to Dunedin, and of conducting communication between exhibitors and the commissioners. Now, therefore, I, Donald M’Lean, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby appoint the following gentlemen to be such Local Committee, for the Province of Hawke’s Bay, namely,—

A considerable danger to travellers and others is likely to arise from the practice of setting fire to fern and other inflammable material in places contiguous to the public roads, it is hereby notified that after this date the police are instructed to take proceedings against any person or persons guilty of this practice.
