PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Education Ordinance, 1875," it is among other things provided that the Superintendent may, under the provisions of Section 16 of the said Ordinance, declare any portion of the Province not comprised within the limits of any Educational District to be an Educational District.
Now, therefore, I, RICHARD JAMES STRACHAN HARMAN, Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, do hereby by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, declare the portion of the Province hereinafter described to be an Educational District with the name and with the boundaries as are hereinafter set forth —
LONGBEACH DISTRICT.
Commencing where the road running through Section 21580 meets the road running through Section 7201; thence along the former road to where it meets the road running through Section 6801; thence south-westerly in a straight line to the road commencing at the north-east corner of Section 14294; thence along that road to the road to the west of Section 14290; thence following along the last-mentioned road to the sea beach; thence along the sea beach to the mouth of the River Ashburton; thence northerly along the said river to a point due east of the starting point; thence in a straight line to the starting point.
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this 23rd day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

HIS Honor the Deputy-Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserve, temporarily, under the provisions of the Waste Lands Regulations, viz. :-
1915 (in red).—Twenty acres, in the Ashburton District (Upper Ashburton Road District), having frontage to and being bounded on the south-westward by the road forming the south-western boundary of Section 14552; on the north-westward by that Section; on the north-eastward by a line 20 chains distant from and parallel to the south-west boundary; and on the south-eastward by a line at right angles to the above mentioned road to include the required quantity.
For Provincial Government purposes.
The above described land is written H.P.R., on Run No. 266, Class 2.

HIS HONOR THE DEPUTY-SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that he has, in accordance with Section 44 of "The Education Ordinance, 1875," appointed the following Persons to whom the Annual Sums payable under the 43rd Section of the said Ordinance shall be paid for the Districts respectively set opposite their names:
