BY-LAW No. 6.
MISCELLANEOUS.

A By-law of the Council of the Borough of Timaru made under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”

In pursuance of the 186th Section of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1867” the Council of the Borough of Timaru ordain as follows:

INDEX.

  1. Throwing filth on streets, footways, &c.
  2. Obstruction by vehicles on roadway or footpath.
  3. More than one vehicle in charge.
  4. Projecting loads.
  5. Law of the road near side control of horses, &c.
  6. Furious riding, &c.
  7. Negligent driving of cattle.
  8. Riding or driving on footpaths.
  9. Riding on any vehicle without reins.
  10. Offering cattle for sale or exhibition.
  11. Sale of diseased meat.
  12. Cellar doors open, &c.
  13. Defacing walls, &c.
  14. Burning shavings, straw, &c.
  15. Rolling casks, &c., on street.
  16. Harassing cattle.
  17. Firearms and fireworks.
  18. Throwing stones, &c.
  19. Drowning animals in watercourses, &c.

  23. Bathing in public.
  24. Disorderly houses.

BY-LAW No. 6.
MISCELLANEOUS.

A By-law of the Council of the Borough of Timaru made under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”

In pursuance of the 186th Section of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1867” the Council of the Borough of Timaru ordain as follows:

Any person guilty of any of the following offences, omissions or neglects within the Borough of Timaru shall on being convicted of any such offence, neglect or omission be liable to pay any penalty not exceeding Five Pounds.

  1. No person shall throw or place or leave in or upon any street or private street, footway, court, alley or public place whatsoever any bottle or other glass, filth, dust, dirt, earth, rubbish or other matter of a similar nature.

  2. No person shall make or cause any unnecessary obstruction in or upon the roadway or footpath of any street or private street by allowing any vehicle or animal to remain in, upon or across the same or by placing thereon any goods or material of any kind or shall fail to remove such obstructions when thereto required or shall wilfully encumber or obstruct any street or private street within the Borough in any way not herein specially described.

  3. No person shall take the sole charge in any street or private street of more than two vehicles at the same time, each of which shall be drawn by one horse only and not by any other animal, and the horse drawing the rearmost thereof shall be attached by a sufficient rein or other fastening to the back of the foremost of such vehicles.

  4. No person in charge of any vehicle in or upon any street or private street shall allow any material which may be conveyed on such vehicle to drag or trail behind the same so as to obstruct the passage or to project on either side thereof more than a distance of two feet measured horizontally from the outside of the axle of the wheel of such vehicle; nor shall any person suffer any load conveyed upon any wheeled carriage, truck or roller to drag or trail or hang over such carriage, truck or roller to the obstruction of the thoroughfare.

  5. Any person riding or driving or otherwise in charge of any horse, cattle or vehicle in or upon any street or private street shall keep to the near side thereof; and any person so riding or driving or otherwise in charge
