Class D
Wool, per bale not exceeding 5 cwt. ...
" " exceeding 4 cwt.—On Lyttelton and Christchurch Line—One Halfpenny per cwt. per mile extra.
" " exceeding 4 cwt.—Other Lines—One Farthing per cwt. per mile extra.
Marking and weighing Wool when required, with certificate of weight, ¼d. per bale.
Class E
Sheep, Pigs, Goats, per score or fraction of a score—Or at owner’s risk—Ten Shillings per wagon for any distance not exceeding 20 miles; exceeding 20 miles, for each mile or fraction of a mile, ¼d. additional.
Class Gt
Grain (Cereals of every description).
Weighing Grain when required, with certificate of weight, ½d. per bag.
Canterbury
Coal—Twopence per ton per mile with terminal charges of Two Shillings added (stacked at Consignees cost).
Imported Coal, between Lyttelton and Christchurch—Six Shillings per ton, including stacking.
Exceptions and Additions
Stacking Timber. This is included in the rate between Lyttelton and Christchurch.
Between all other points an additional charge of Fourpence per 100 feet must be made if stacked by the Railway.
Agricultural Machinery, Engines and Boilers, by special agreement.
Gunpowder and other Explosive or Inflammable Articles, by special agreement only.
Note—Weight or measurement in all cases at the option of the Railway Department.
On All Goods and Luggage not otherwise specified—Two Shillings and Sixpence per ton weight or measurement; minimum charge—Sixpence.
Wool—Sixpence per bale.
Timber—Fourpence per 100 feet.
Firewood—Two Shillings per cord.
Wharfage
Half Dues for Wharfage to be charged on all Goods transhipped into Lighters, &c., from Vessels lying alongside Government Wharves, or at any of the Government Moorings within the Breakwater.
Cranage
Sixpence per Ton for use of Cranes on Wharves and Yards.
Exceptional Cargoes (as may be determined by the Railway Department), to be charged per day, or otherwise by special agreement.
The charge for Cranage does not include the cost of Haulage to the crane when the goods have been previously deposited at a distance therefrom.
