it to be notified that a writ for an
election to be held for the return of a person
to serve in the Provincial Council as Member
for the Rangiora District, has been returned
to him with the endorsement that

John Evans Brown
has been duly elected.

Patrick Samuel Garvey
to be Warder at the Lyttelton Gaol, vice

PUBLIC NOTICE.

In pursuance of the provisions of “The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872,” I
William Rolleston, Esq., Superintendent
of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby
call a meeting of the ratepayers of the Port
Levy Road District, to be held on Tuesday,
the 8th day of June, 1875, at the hour of
twelve o’clock noon, at Mr. Harris’ house,
Port Levy, for the purpose of electing five
duly qualified persons as Members of the
Road Board of the said district, to fill the
vacancies which have been caused by the
failure to elect five members of the said
Board at the annual ordinary election.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this 18th day of May, 1875.

PROCLAMATION.

William Rolleston, Superintendent
of the Province of Canterbury, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers vested
in me by “The Canterbury Trespass of Cattle
Ordinance, 1872,” and in pursuance of a
recommendation to that effect from the
Provincial Council, do hereby, with the
advice and consent of my Executive Council,
declare that the district commencing at the
beach at Trig. pole 45 on the north side of
the Waikanui Creek, and extending in a
right line running north-west to Trig. pole 15
at I.P.R. fence on boundary between Runs
No. 139 and No. 98, thence by a right line
crossing the Great South Road, and extending
north-west to Trig. pole 12 on north side
