PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational District of West Melton have failed within the time limited for that purpose by the Board of Education to contribute and pay to the Provincial Treasurer the amount fixed by the Board as the contribution of the said district for school purposes :

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby declare an uniform rate of twopence in the Β£ to be leviable within the said district under the provisions of the 42nd section of "The Education Ordinance, 1873," and I do hereby appoint

ALEXANDER SANDISON

as the person to whom the said rate shall be paid.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this 2nd day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby declare an uniform rate of ninepence in the Β£ to be leviable within the said district under the provisions of the 42nd section of "The Education Ordinance, 1873," and I do hereby appoint

as the person to whom the said rate shall be paid.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this 7th day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that WEDNESDAY, the 16th instant, being the Anniversary of the Foundation of the Settlement, the Public Offices will be closed on that day.
