PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Education Ordinance, 1873," it is among other things provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to alter boundaries of any Educational District and to divide any Educational District into two or more districts or parts of districts, or to combine two or more districts or parts of districts into one or to add portions of any district to any adjoining district, or to add any locality not being or forming part of a district to an Educational District, and in every such case the district or districts constituted or affected thereby shall be deemed to be and shall be proclaimed as provided in the said Ordinance as newly constituted District or Districts :

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the 27th section of the said before-recited Ordinance, and by and with the advice of the Executive Council do hereby proclaim the districts as specified in the Schedule hereunto annexed to be newly-constituted Educational Districts within the meaning of "The Education Ordinance, 1873."

SCHEDULE.

MOUNT SOMERS EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Commencing where the south branch of the River Ashburton joins Bowyer's stream, thence northerly, following up Bowyer's stream and Cox's Creek to where the latter is joined by the Creek known as Bedlam Bay Creek striking Alford Forest at Rural Section 20813, thence from the source of the last-mentioned Creek in a straight line due north to the source of the North Ashburton River, thence in a straight line to the source of the South Ashburton River, thence south in a straight line from the last-mentioned source to the north-east corner of Lake Acland, thence in a straight line to the source of the North Hinds, following the course of the North Hinds to where it is joined by the South Hinds in a straight line to the starting point.

ALFORD FOREST EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Bounded on the south and west by the Mount Somers Educational District, on the east from where Bowyer's stream strikes the south branch of the Ashburton in a straight line due north to the north branch of the River Ashburton, on the north by the said north branch.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this 18th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
