PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Road Board of the Waimate District, have within three months last past, presented a Petition to the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, praying that the said Waimate District may be divided into five separate subdivisions pursuant to the provisions of "The Canterbury Roads Ordinance 1872," now therefore I WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, and by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council do hereby divide the Waimate Road District into the five following subdivisions, by the names hereinafter assigned to them respectively and with the boundaries hereinafter set forth, that is to say,—

| No. 2 or Otaio Ward. | From the River Otaio to the River Makikihi. |
| No. 3 or Makikihi Ward. | From the River Makikihi to the Deep Creek. |
| No. 4 or Deep Creek Ward. | From the Deep Creek to the River Waihoa north branch. |
| No. 5 or North Waihoa Ward. | From the north branch of the River Waihoa to the River Waitaki |
and I do hereby determine and proclaim that in all future elections of members of the Road Board of the said District, one member shall be elected for each of the subdivisions aforesaid, and I do hereby severally assign the members of the Road Board now in office in the said District, to the subdivisions aforementioned in the following manner viz:—
To No. 1 or Pareora Ward, Mr. Michael Studholme.
To No. 2 or Otaio Ward, Mr. Andrew Martin.
To No. 3 or Makikihi Ward, Mr. Leonard Price.
To No. 4 or Deep Creek Ward, Mr. John Manchester.
To No. 5 or North Waihoa Ward, Hon. George Buckley.
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this fifth day of October, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-four.
