George Rhodes, runholder, deceased, James
Gibson, of Timaru, in the Province and
Colony aforesaid, road contractor, Henry
Cain, also of Timaru, manager of the Timaru
Landing and Shipping Company (limited),
Henry John LeCren, also of Timaru, run-
holder, and William Wilson, of Christchurch
aforesaid, merchant, being respectively seized
of all those pieces or parcels of land herein-
after more particularly described, that is to
say: We the said Robert Heaton Rhodes,
and the said Robert Heaton Rhodes and
William Donald, as such Trustees as afore-
said, being seized in fee simple of all those
pieces or parcels of land being part of Rural
Sections numbered 730 and 1652 on the
map of the Chief Surveyor of the Province
of Canterbury, one hundred links wide, and
running through sections numbered respec-
tively 730 and 1652, in a straight line from
Arthur Street, and being a continuation of
the said street a distance of twelve chains
sixty links from Grey Road, and parallel to
North Street; and also of and in all those
pieces or parcels of land being other parts of
sections 730 and 1652, one hundred links
wide, being a continuation of Church Street
from Rhodes Town, running westerly from
Grey Road through said Section number-
bered 730 and 1652, a distance of twelve
chains sixty links; and also of and in all
those pieces or parcels of land being other
portions of Rural Section 730 and 1652, one
hundred links wide, being a continuation of
Elizabeth Street, westerly, through sections
numbered 730 and 1652, a distance of twelve
chains sixty links from Grey Road, and
parallel to North Street. I, the said James
Gibson, being seized in fee simple of all that
piece or parcel of land, being part of Rural
Section numbered 1757 on the said map of
the Chief Surveyor of the said Province, one
hundred links wide, being a continuation of
Church Street from Rhodes Town, running
westerly from Grey Road through sections
730 and 1652, a distance of three chains
ninety links; and also of and in all that
piece or parcel of land being another portion
of said rural section numbered 1757, one
hundred links wide, being a continuation of
Elizabeth Street, westerly, through sections
730 and 1652, a distance of three chains
ninety links from Grey Road, and parallel
to North Street. I, the said Henry Cain,
being seized in fee simple of all that piece or
parcel of land being part of Rural Section
numbered 1766 on the said map of the
Chief Surveyor of the Province of Canter-
bury, one hundred links wide, being a
continuation of Church Street, from Rhodes
Town to Sandie Town, running westerly from
Grey Road through sections 730, 1652, and
1757, a distance of six chains two links; and
also of and in all that piece or parcel of land
being another part of said section 1766, one
hundred links wide, being a continuation of
Elizabeth Street, westerly, through the said
sections 730, 1652, and 1757, a distance of
six chains two links; and of and in all
that piece or parcel of land, fifty links wide
from off the western boundary and known as
Le Cren Street, being another part of said
Rural Section 1766, commencing at a point

on the northern side of North Street, the
said point being twenty-two chains fifty-two
links west of Grey Road, and running
northerly at right angles to North Street a
distance of fifty-two chains sixty-two links
to a road south of Cemetery Reserve, num-
ber 146, in red; we the said Henry John
LeCren and William Wilson being seized
in fee simple of and in all that piece or parcel
of land fifty links wide from the eastern
boundary of section 1959, and known as Le
Cren Street aforesaid, and being part of said
section numbered 1959, commencing at a
point on the northern side of North Street,
the said point being twenty-three chains two
links west of Grey Road, and running
northerly at right angles to North Street a
distance of fifty-two chains sixty-two links
to the said road, south of Cemetery Reserve,
number 146, in red; and also of and in all
that piece or parcel of land fifty links wide,
and being another part of Rural Section num-
bered 1959, known as Hunt Street, com-
mencing at a point on the western side of
Le Cren Street, a distance of eleven chains
fifteen links north of North Street, running
westerly through said section, numbered
1959 to Wilson Street, a distance of nine
chains, and parallel to North Street. And
also of and in all that piece or parcel of land
being another part of Rural Section numbered
1959, fifty links wide, commencing at a
point on the western side of Le Cren Street,
a distance of twenty-two chains eighty links
north of North Street, and running westerly
parallel to North Street to Wilson Street,
and known as Commercial Street. And also
of and in all that piece or parcel of land
being another portion of said section, num-
bered 1959, fifty links wide, commencing at
a point on the western side of Le Cren Street,
a distance of thirty-four chains forty-five
links north of North Street, and running
westerly parallel to North Street, and known
as Meremere Street; and also of and in all
that piece or parcel of land being another
portion of said section, numbered 1959,
fifty links wide, commencing at a point on the
western side of Le Cren Street about forty-
two chains ninety-five links north of North
Street, and running westerly across said sec-
tion to Wilson Street, which it meets at a
point forty-two chains sixty-three links dis-
tant from North Street. As the said roads
or streets are more particularly delineated in
the plan drawn hereon, and therein respec-
tively named and coloured brown, for valuable
consideration, we do, and each of us doth
hereby respectively dedicate the said land to
the public, to the intent that the same may
for ever hereafter be used as, and be, public
highways to all intents and purposes what-
soever. In testimony whereof we have
hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty-
first day of March, One thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-four.
