CANTERBURY RAILWAYS.
GOODS TARIFF.
The following Schedule of Tolls and Wharfage Dues will take effect on and after the 24th August, 1874, and will remain in force till altered or revised.
CLASSIFICATION.
CLASS A
(MERCHANDISE, by weight or measurement, includes all goods not otherwise specified.
FLAX (in bales), per ton weight.
BRAN and COKE, ditto
STOVES and other CASTINGS (not packed), per ton weight—Fifty per cent additional.
CHINA, GLASS, PICTURES, and other Valuable or Hazardous Goods (special rates).
EMPTIES not less than a quarter-of-a-ton—Half rate.
PACKAGES weighing more than two tons—Per agreement.
PACKAGED under a quarter-of-a-ton, sent by Goods Train to be charged as quarter-of-a-ton at Goods Rates.
CLASS B
(By weight only, includes GRAIN, POTATOES; HAY, STRAW, and CHAFF (pressed);
FLOUR and SHARPS (dead weight); COAL, IRON, SLAVES, BRICKS, STONE, LIME,
POSTS and RAILS, PILES, HEAVY TIMBER; FIREWOOD (one cord as a ton).
HAY, STRAW, and CHAFF (unpressed)—Double rate.
LOADING FIREWOOD, per cord—One Shilling additional.
CLASS C
(SAWN TIMBER, by 100 feet superficial.
100 PALINGS or 1,000 SHINGLES, as 100 feet timber.
CLASS D
(Wool, per bale not exceeding 4 cwt.
Exceeding 4 cwt., on Lyttelton and Christchurch Line—One Half-penny per cwt. per mile.
Exceeding 4 cwt., other Lines—One Farthing per cwt. per mile.
CLASS E
(L. & C. R.—G. N. R.—G. S. R.—SHEEP, PIGS, GOATS, per score or fraction of a score—Or at the option of the owner or person in charge, they taking all responsibility, Ten Shillings per waggon on each Line, for any distance under 20 miles;
exceeding 20 miles, for each mile or fraction of a mile, 4d. additional.
WEIGHING WOOL on receipt or delivery with certificate of weight ... 4d. per bale
WEIGHING GRAIN on receipt or delivery with certificate of weight ... 4d. per bag
WHARFAGE DUES.
MERCHANDISE, GRAIN, &c., Notes A and B ... 1s. per ton
TIMBER, per 100 superficial feet ... 2d. per 100 feet
WOOL ... 2d. per bale
SHEEP, PIGS, &c., per score or fraction of a score ... Two Shillings and Sixpence
HORSES and CATTLE, each ... Two Shillings and Sixpence
CARRIAGES, DRAYS, &c. ... 4d. per bale
MERCHANDISE transhipped to or from vessels lying alongside the Government wharves ... Half rates
