SECOND SCHEDULE.
ELLESMERE ROAD DISTRICT.
The Ellesmere District comprises that portion of the Province bounded on the north by the Springs District, on the east by Lake Ellesmere, on the south by the sea and the Rakaia river, and on the north-west by the Great South Road from the Rakaia to its junction with the reserve for the Great Southern Railway, and also by that reserve from the said junction to the River Selwyn.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
RAKAIA ROAD DISTRICT.
The Rakaia District comprises that portion of the Province bounded on the south-east by the Great South Road from the Rakaia river to its junction with the reserve for the Great Southern Railway, and also by that reserve from the said junction to the river Selwyn, on the north-east by the Malvern, South Malvern, and Courtenay Districts, on the west by the Lake Coleridge District, and on the south-west by the River Rakaia.
PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of \"The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872,\" the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury did by resolution decide that the parcels of land described in the first Schedule hereunder written, being respectively portions of the Ashburton and Mount Somers Road Districts, should be severed from the said districts respectively, and that the said parcels of land should be constituted into a separate district. And whereas by the said Ordinance it is amongst other things enacted that upon the making of any such resolution as aforesaid, the Superintendent should by proclamation declare that the portion or portions of the district or districts mentioned in such resolution should be severed from such district or districts, and constituted into a new district under such name as should seem fit, from a date to be fixed in such proclamation. And further, that in every such case the districts affected or constituted thereby should be deemed to be new districts under the provisions of the said Ordinance, and should be proclaimed as aforesaid.
Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the said Province of Canterbury in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby declare that from the 13th day of April, 1874, the portions of the Ashburton and Mount Somers Road Districts respectively described in the first Schedule hereunder written shall be severed from the Ashburton and Mount Somers Road Districts respectively, and shall be constituted into a new district under the name of the South Rakaia Road District. And further, that the Ashburton Road District shall, from the said 13th day of April, 1874, be constituted and bounded as the same is described in the second Schedule hereunder written. And further, that the Mount Somers Road District shall from the said 13th day of April, 1874, be constituted and bounded as the same is described in the third Schedule hereunder written.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
Description of that portion of the South Rakaia Road District severed from the Ashburton Road District:β
Bounded on the north-east by the Lake Coleridge, Rakaia, and Ellesmere Road Districts; on the south-east by the sea; on the north-westward by the north-west boundary of Run No. 116, and a line in continuation thereof; and on the south-westward by the south-west boundaries of Runs Nos. 116 and 117, by part of the north-west boundary of Run No. 118, by the south-west boundary of last-mentioned Run, part of the south-east boundary of Run No. 118, part of the south-west boundary of Run No. 91, part of the north-west boundary of Run No. 90; thence by the south-west boundaries of Runs Nos. 90 and 129 to the sea.
Description of that portion of the South Rakaia Road District severed from the Mount Somers Road District:β
Bounded on the north-east by the Lake Coleridge Road District; on the north-west by the north-western boundary of Run No. 352; on the south-west by the south-western boundary of Runs Nos. 352, 466, and 502, to a point opposite the southern-most corner of Run No. 460; thence by the north branch of the river Ashburton, to the north-west corner of Run No. 106; thence by the north-west boundary of that Run, the north-east boundaries of Runs Nos. 106 and 54; and on the south-east by the north-west boundary of Run No. 116, a line in continuation thereof; and also by part of the north-west boundary of Run No. 124.
