CANTERBURY ROADS ORDINANCE.

NOTICE.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has fixed THURSDAY, the 7th of May, 1874, at the hour of 12 o\'clock, noon, at the Ashburton Road Board Office, as the time and place at which a meeting of persons duly qualified to vote shall be held for the Election of Members of the Road Board of the Ashburton Road District, as constituted by a Proclamation of His Honor the Superintendent, dated 14th April, 1874; and that he has appointed

MR. JOHN GRIGG
as the person by and before whom such election shall be held.

as the person by and before whom such election shall be held.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has fixed SATURDAY, the 9th May, 1874, at the hour of 12 o\'clock, noon, at the School-house, South Rakaia, as the time and place at which a meeting of persons duly qualified to vote shall be held for the Election of Members of the Road Board of the South Rakaia Road District, as constituted by a Proclamation of His Honor the Superintendent, dated 14th April, 1874; and that he has appointed

as the person by and before whom such election shall be held.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of \"The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872,\" the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, did by resolution decide that the parcel of land described in the first Schedule hereunder written, being portion of the Ellesmere Road District, should be severed from the said Ellesmere Road District, and should be annexed to the adjoining Rakaia district. And whereas by the said Ordinance it is amongst other things enacted that upon the making of any such resolution as aforesaid, the Superintendent should by proclamation declare that the portion or portions of the district or districts mentioned in such resolution should be severed from such district or districts, and annexed to such adjoining district from a date to be fixed in such proclamation. And further, that in every such case the districts affected or constituted thereby should be deemed to be new districts under the provisions of the said Ordinance, and should be proclaimed as aforesaid.

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the said Province of Canterbury, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby declare that from the 13th day of April, 1874, the portion of the Ellesmere Road District described in the first Schedule hereunder written shall be severed from the Ellesmere Road District, and shall be annexed to the adjoining Rakaia Road District. And further, that the Ellesmere Road District shall from the said 13th day of April, 1874, be constituted and bounded as the same is described in the Second Schedule hereunder written. And further, that the Rakaia Road District shall from the said 13th day of April, 1874, be constituted and bounded as the same is described in the third Schedule hereunder written.

Description of the portion of land severed from the Ellesmere Road District and united to the Rakaia Road District:β€”

Bounded on the northward by the Courtenay Road District, on the southward by the Great Southern Railway Reserve, and on the northwest by the Great South Road.
