Provincial Industrial Bonuses

No. 1497, in red.—One hundred and forty-seven acres, more or less, situate in the Ashburton District, having 40 chains frontage on the south-eastern side of the South Road, and extending south-easterly 40 chains in a rectangular block. The northernmost corner being 18 chains north-east of the 42nd mile, subject to railway reserve 1450 (in red) passing through the above-described land for which reserve allowance has been made in the acreage. IN compliance with a resolution of the Provincial Council, a Bonus is hereby offered for the encouragement of the undermentioned Industries :—

FIRE BRICKS, CHIMNEY POTS,
GLAZED DRAINED PIPES,
AND GENERAL GLAZED WARE.

BONUS OF £250.

Conditions.

  1. The bonus will not be given for any quantity of a less marketable value than £2,000 (two thousand pounds).

  2. The bonus will be given to the manufacturer who effects the first bona fide sale of the above quantity of ware, manufactured in the Province of Canterbury.

  3. The bonus will not be given unless the articles for which it is claimed have been, and can be, manufactured in the Province of Canterbury at a price less than that of the imported articles of a similar quality.

  4. The ware in respect of which the bonus is claimed will be examined by an Officer to be appointed by the Provincial Government, who may require the production of bona fide account sales of quantities of the marketable value stated above.

  5. Notice of the intention to claim the bonus must be given to the Provincial Secretary not later than September 30, 1873.

CEMENT.

BONUS OF £250.

Conditions.

  1. The bonus will not be given for any quantity of a less marketable value than £2,000 (two thousand pounds).

  2. The Cement for which the bonus is claimed must be equal in quality to that known as Portland Cement.

  3. The bonus will be given to the manufacturer who effects the first bona fide sale of the above quantity of Cement, manufactured in the Province of Canterbury.

  4. The bonus will not be paid unless the Cement for which it is claimed has been, and can be, manufactured in the Province of Canterbury at a price less than that of the imported article of a similar quality.

  5. The Cement in respect of which the bonus is claimed will be examined by an Officer to be appointed by the Provincial Government, who may require the production of bona fide account sales of quantities of the marketable value above stated.

  6. Notice of the intention to claim the bonus must be given to the Provincial Secretary not later than September 30, 1873.

MANUFACTURE OF WOOL BALES, SACKING, AND MATTING FROM NEW ZEALAND FLAX.

BONUS OF £2,000.

Conditions.

  1. The bonus will not be given unless satisfactory proof is given of the production of not less than ten thousand wool bales, and forty thousand sacks, of a similar quality to those generally in use in the Province.

  2. The wool bales and sacks on account of which the bonus is claimed must be produced from a manufactory permanently established, and working in the Province of Canterbury.

  3. In case the Company or private individual, on whose account the bonus is claimed, receive any bonus for the same manufacture from the General Government, the amount payable to them out of this bonus shall only be such, as will make up the total bonus to £2,000.

  4. Notice of the intention to claim the bonus must be given to the Provincial Secretary not later than September 30, 1873.

The above amounts will be paid on the certificate of an Officer appointed by the Provincial Government that the conditions applicable to each manufacture have been complied with.
