PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS at a public meeting of persons duly qualified to vote in the Pareora District, held on Wednesday, the 11th day of December, 1872, at Pareora, it was declared by the votes of the majority of the persons present that they were willing that the district described in the Schedule hereto should be formed into an Educational District:
Now, therefore, I WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby proclaim the said district to be an Educational District within the meaning of “The Education Ordinance, 1871.”
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this sixth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.
PAREORA DISTRICT.
Commencing at south-west corner of section 8758 where it touches the River Pareora; thence north-easterly in a straight line along the western boundary of said section to the north-east corner of section 9634; thence along the road forming the northern boundaries of sections 9684, 9636, 10478, 12245, 12462, 12461, 18754, and 12711, to the north-west corner of the latter section; thence westerly in a straight line to the northmost corner of section 5828; thence along the north-western boundary of the said section to its westernmost corner; thence south-westerly in a straight line to the north-east corner of section 8864; thence along the northern boundary of said section to its north-west corner; thence along the western boundary of that section to the Pareora river; thence easterly along its northern bank to the starting point.

Now, therefore, I WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby proclaim the said district to be an Educational District within the meaning of “The Education Ordinance, 1871.”

SCHEDULE.
UPPER ASHBURTON DISTRICT.
Bounded on the south by the South branch of the River Ashburton; on the east by a straight line drawn due north from the said South branch where it joins Bowyer’s stream, to the north branch of the River Ashburton; on the north by the said north branch, and by a straight line drawn from the southernmost corner of section 13617, where the north branch of the river emerges from the hills to the source of the South branch of the said river.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following reserves, temporarily, under the 19th clause of the Waste Lands Regulations, viz. —
No. 1485, in red.—Fifty acres, more or less, situate in the Ashburton District, having frontage of about 12½ chains to the Estuary of the Rangitata, and extending north-westerly a distance on the average of 40 chains north-east of and adjoining reserve No. 99 (in red), subject to roads. For a Ferry;
No. 1486, in red.—One hundred acres more or less, situate in the Timaru District, having frontage of 25 chains to the road reserved along the Beach, and extending north-westerly a distance on the average of 40 chains southerly of and adjoining reserve No. 100 (in red), subject to roads. For a Ferry.
N.B.—The above are respectively extensions of reserves Nos. 99 and 100 (in red).
No. 1496, in red.—One hundred and forty-seven acres, more or less, situate in the Ashburton District, having frontage of 40 chains on the south-eastern side of the South Road and Railway Reserve, and extending south-easterly 40 chains in a rectangular block, the westernmost corner being 4¼ chains north-east of the junction of the above-mentioned reserves with the road north-east of reserve 1261.
