HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and upon the recommendation of the Board of Education, appointed

Mr. Henry W. Hammond

to be Assistant Inspector of Schools for the Province of Canterbury.

This appointment to date from the 12th inst.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has, in pursuance of the powers vested in him under the provisions of "The Timaru and Gladstone Board of Works Amendment Act, 1870," and "The Roads Ordinance, 1872," and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, appointed

James Thomas Pain

Returning Officer at the election of members of the Timaru and Gladstone Board of Works for the Waimate District.

PROCLAMATION.

I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by "The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, 1872," do hereby proclaim and declare that the Sheep Yard erected by the Courtenay Road Board, on Reserve No. 1052, near Watson's Accommodation House, Courtenay, shall be deemed and taken to be part of the Public Pound for the Courtenay District within the meaning of the above-recited Ordinance, from and after Saturday, the sixth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, and I do hereby appoint

James Lord

to be Poundkeeper at the said Pound,

vice Henry Williams, resigned.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this twenty-fourth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
