PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled “The Education Ordinance, 1873,” it is among other things provided that the Superintendent may, under the provisions of Section 26 of the said Ordinance, declare any portion of the Province not comprised within the limits of any Educational District, to be an Educational District:
Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, do hereby, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, declare the portions of the Province hereinafter described, to be Educational Districts, with such names and with such boundaries as are hereinafter set forth:—

| Temuka Educational District | Commencing at a point on the River Opihi, due south of the easternmost corner of section 3285; thence in a straight line to such corner; thence north-westerly along the eastern boundaries of sections 3285, 10170, 10874, to the north-eastern corner of the latter section; thence in a straight line to the nearest corner of section 8810; thence north-easterly along its eastern boundary to the north-eastern corner thereof; thence in a straight line to the junction of the road running between sections 6025 and 6018 with the road running between sections 6025 and 6724; thence westerly along this latter road to its junction with the continuation of the road forming the eastern boundary of section 6723; thence in a straight line to the south-east corner of section 2901; thence westerly along its southern boundary and a line in continuation thereof to the River Hae-Hae-Te-Moana; thence in a straight line to the south-western corner of section 6595; thence south-easterly and south-westerly along the road lying between that section and section 7100 to the north-western corner of section 3698; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of sections 3698, 2945, and 6384, to the River Opihi; and thence easterly along that river to the starting point. |
| Little Rakaia Educational District | Commencing at the south-east corner of section 4914; thence westerly along the road forming the southern boundaries of section 6526, reserve 965, sections 12731, 10737, and 10368, to the River Rakaia; thence southerly along the said river to the sea beach; thence along the sea beach to the mouth of the Tentburn; and thence northerly up the Tentburn to the starting point. |
