William Miles Maskell, Esq., J.P.,
to be Deputy-Inspector of the Sunnyside Asylum, during the absence from the Province of the Inspector, W. J. W. Hamilton, Esq.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the householders in the Saltwater Creek Educational District have failed to elect a District School Committee in manner provided by "The Education Ordinances, 1871;"
Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the 37th Section of the said Ordinance, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby appoint

Frederic Henry Melville Walker
to be Commissioner under the said Ordinance for the said district.

this ninth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION.

WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance, 1870," and with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby appoint the undermentioned persons to be Managers of the Ashburton Cemetery, in addition to the Managers previously appointed by me:

Robert P. Glen,
John Harrison,
Joseph Ward.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational District of Little Akaloa have failed within the time limited for that purpose by the Board of Education to contribute and pay to the Provincial Treasurer the amount fixed by the Board as the contribution of the said district for school purposes:
Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby declare an uniform rate of sixpence in the pound to be leviable within the said district, under the provisions of the seventeenth section of "The Education Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1872, No. 2;" and I do hereby appoint

Thomas William Barker
as the person to whom the said rate shall be paid.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this thirteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872," it is among other things enacted that if at any time the persons qualified so to do shall refuse or neglect to elect members of the Board of any district, or if the members of the Board of any district shall refuse or neglect to carry this Ordinance into operation, the Superintendent shall by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare the powers of such Board to be suspended, and shall by such Proclamation appoint a Commissioner for such district:
And whereas the persons qualified so to do in the Port Levy Road District have neglected to elect members of the Board of the said district:
Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers so vested in me as aforesaid, and by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, do hereby appoint

James Harris,
to be the Commissioner for the said district.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Seventeenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
