For purposes of protective works in
connection with the overflow of the
river Waimakariri.

No. 959, in red.—All that portion of the
Province of Canterbury comprised
within the highest flood-line of Lake
Ellesmere (subject, nevertheless, to
reserves, freehold land, and pre-emptive rights).—For purposes in
connection with the drainage of Lake
Ellesmere.

No. 960, in red.—All that portion of the
Province of Canterbury comprised
within the highest flood-line of Lake
Forsyth (subject, nevertheless, to
reserves, freehold, and pre-emptive
rights).—For purposes in connection
with the drainage of Lake Forsyth.

No. 1116, in red.—Two thousand two
hundred acres (more or less), situate
in the Ashburton district, including
Pudding Hill, bounded on the northward by a branch of the River Ashburton; on the southward by another
branch of the same river; and on
westward by a straight line bearing
N. 44 deg. 30 sec. E. (mag.), drawn
from a point on the southern boundary,
situated about three-and-a-quarter
miles, measured in a straight line
from the confluence of the above-mentioned branches of the aforesaid
river.—For educational purposes.

No. 1237, in red.—Twelve hundred and
two acres (more or less), situate in
the Ashburton and Timaru districts,
commencing at a point on the southern
side of the road leading by trig.
pole 79, the said point being thirty-two
chains north-east of trig. pole 78;
thence northerly, following the said
road a distance of eighty-two chains;
thence westerly at an angle of 102
deg. 5 min., following a straight line
to the road by Geraldine and Orari;
thence southerly following the latter
road a distance of about eighty-two
chains eighty links; and from thence
returning in a line parallel to and
one mile distant from the northern
boundary to the commencing point.—
For purposes of the Rangitata bridge.

No. 1288, in red.—Thirty-three acres (more
or less), situate in the Lincoln dis-
trict, bounded on the northward by
the Ellesmere Junction Road and
Reserve No. 310, in red; on the
eastward by the Weedon and Ellesmere Road; on the westward by the
aforesaid reserve and section No.
4052; and on the southward by section
6688; subject to Reserve No. 802,
in red.—For purposes of a tramway.

No. 1288, in red.—Two hundred and
thirty-four acres (more or less), in
the Malvern district, bounded on the
eastward by the road forming the
western boundary of section 12872;
on the northward by the road forming
the northern boundary of that
section and the southern boundary of
section 12778; and on the southward
by the River Wakaepa.—For road,
tramway, and other purposes of the
Provincial Government.

No. 1289, in red.—Two hundred and
seventy acres (more or less), situate
in the Malvern district, bounded on
the northward by the River Wakaepa;
on the eastward by the said river;
on the westward by section 3716;
and on the southward by a line parallel
to and fifteen chains distant on
the average from the northern boundary.—For road, tramway, and other
purposes of the Provincial Government.

No. 1316, in red.—All that tract of land,
three chains wide, the centre line of
which commences on the southern
bank of the River Waiau, about
twenty-seven chains south-west of
trigonometrical station No. 3, and
extending in a southerly direction to
the northern bank of the River
Waitangi, where it is intersected by
the eastern side of the Telegraph
Reserve 953 (in red), save and
except the land purchased and reserved to date.—For the Southern
Line of Railway.

No. 1342, in red.—All that tract of land,
three chains wide, containing by admeasurement eighty acres (more or
less), the centre line of which commences at a point on the north-east
boundary of section 4973, situate
thirty-five-and-a-half chains from the
north-eastern corner thereof; thence
following a straight line in a northerly
direction through the intersection of
the Tramway Reserve by the road
forming the north-west boundary of
section 10819, until it meets the
south-west boundary of section No.
7397.—For a line of railway in connection with the Rolleston and
Leeston Line.

No. 1871, in red.—All that tract of land,
one mile wide, the centre line of
which commences at the southernmost
corner of section No. 4529 on the
South Road and Railway Reserve,
and runs in a southerly direction
until it meets the north-west corner
of section No. 3163, situate on the
south bank of the Orari river, and
more particularly delineated and
described on the maps of the Chief
Surveyor setting out and describing
the land in the Ashburton and Timaru
