Province of Canterbury, at the Land Office, Christchurch, 1st November, 1867.
Under the provisions of "The Land Tenure Reform Special Act, 1867," notice is hereby given that the following sections of rural land will be open for selection on Thursday, the 7th day of November, 1867, at noon:
ROLLESTON.
No. 1587.
Parcel of land situated in the Ashburton County, containing—by admeasurement—forty-eight acres (more or less), being section No. 792, on the north-eastwardly branch of the river Ashburton; on the south-westward by a line parallel to and distant from the said branch; on the south-eastward by sections 243, 279, 280; and westward by sections 260, 262, 1600.
All that piece of land one chain wide, commencing at a point on the south-westwardly boundary of the aforesaid section, distant forty chains on the south-westward from the north-eastward angle thereof, and extending thence south-eastward to the main road leading to the Rakaia Ferry.
Upset price, one pound per acre.
For Ferry purposes.
A line parallel to and three chains distant from the said branch, on the north-westward.
Bounded on the north-eastward by section No. 598; on the south-westward by section 792; on the south-eastward by sections 243, 279, 280; and westward by continuation of the western boundary of the latter section; on the west by sections 260, 262, 1600.
No. 1588.
All that piece or parcel of land situated in the Ashburton district, containing-by admeasurement-sixty-eight acres and three roods (more or less), being Reserve I, for a Road, and Railway Reserve; say and except twenty-eight perches, reserved for Telegraph purposes, purchased for a dray road.
This eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
Bounded on the eastward by the Halswell Road, on the southward by the boundary of the said district, on the westward by the aforesaid sections, and on the northward by an extension of the northern boundary of section 277.
Upset price, two pounds ten shillings per acre.
PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its dependencies.
Whereas by "The Land Tenure Reform Act, 1867," it is enacted that the Superintendent of any province, with the advice of the Executive Council thereof, may from time to time by Proclamation declare any specified road, street, or reserve to be open or closed for certain purposes:
Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, do hereby proclaim and declare the road described in the Schedule hereto to be closed.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Seal of the Province, this first day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.
SCHEDULE.
That portion of road forming part of Reserve No. 77, bounded towards the north-westward by the north-eastward boundary of section 742; towards the north-eastward by the aforesaid section; towards the south-eastward by the said road; and towards the south-westward by the aforesaid section.
