Educational meetings were held at Little Akaroa on the 7th inst., at Okain’s Bay on the 8th inst., and at Greendale (River Hawkins) on the 15th. The residents in each district affirmed their willingness to comply with the requirements of the Education Ordinance, 1871, in order to the establishment of district schools.
Four candidates for special appointments as teachers have been examined, and have in each instance succeeded in obtaining unclassed certificates.
