PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Education Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1872, No. 2," it is among other things provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, on the recommendation of the Board, to alter the limits of any Educational District, and to divide any Educational District into two or more Educational Districts, or parts of districts, or to combine two or more Educational Districts or parts of districts into one, or to add portions of any Educational District to any adjoining Educational District, or to add any locality not being or forming part of an Educational District to an adjoining Educational District, and in every such case the district or districts constituted or affected thereby, shall be deemed to be and shall be proclaimed as provided in the said Ordinance as newly constituted Educational District or Districts:

And whereas the Board has recommended that the limits of the East Oxford and West Oxford Districts, respectively, should be altered:

Now, therefore, I, RICHARD JAMES STRACHAN HARMAN, the Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, do hereby, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, alter the limits of the said districts, and I do hereby proclaim the East Oxford and West Oxford Districts respectively, as specified in the Schedule hereunto annexed, to be newly constituted Educational Districts within the meaning of "The Education Ordinance, 1871."

SCHEDULE.

EAST OXFORD DISTRICT.

Commencing at the south-east corner of section 3786; thence along the Harewood Road to the south-west corner of section 1890; thence in a northerly direction by the western boundary of section 1890, across the Oxford and Rangiora Road by the eastern boundary of section 1839, a distance of 35 chains; thence west in a straight line to the Bay Road; thence northerly along that road to the north-east corner of section 201; thence westerly along the northern boundary of said section to the south-east corner of section 1009; thence northerly in a straight line by the eastern boundary of section 7585 to where it meets a road running from the westernmost corner of section 12705; thence easterly along that road to the north-west corner of section 12705, from thence in a straight line north-easterly to the northernmost corner of section 10836; thence easterly in a straight line to the north-west corner of section 5271; thence easterly in a straight line to the northernmost corner of section 8175; thence from that point south-easterly along the road leading from the Ashley Gorge to Carleton Road to the Carleton Road; thence southerly along the said Carleton Road to the north bank of the River Eyre; thence westerly along the said north bank of the River Eyre to where the Harewood Road crosses the said river; and from thence along the said Harewood Road to the starting point.

WEST OXFORD DISTRICT.

Commencing at the south-west corner of section 3736; thence along the Harewood Road to the south-west corner of section 1890; thence in a northerly direction by the western boundary of section 1890 across the Oxford and Rangiora Road by the eastern boundary of section 1839, a distance of 35 chains; thence westerly in a straight line to the Bay Road; thence northerly along that road to the north-east corner of section 201; thence westerly along the northern boundary of said section 201 to the south-east corner of section 1009; thence northerly in a straight line by the eastern boundary of section 7585 to where it meets a road running from the westernmost corner of section 12705; thence westerly along a road to where it meets a straight line running northerly and southerly on the western boundary of section 1827; thence along that straight line and western boundary of section 1827 to trig. pole 30; thence southerly in a straight line to trig. pole 26; thence easterly in a straight line to trig. pole 24; thence easterly in a straight line to the south-east corner of section 3755; thence along the Harewood Road to the starting point.
